One of the best guide books I have read! I work in the travel industry and needed a reference book on Gabon. Being such a little known destination I was unsure what material I would find and was delighted to find that Bradt Guides had a book on Gabon. By the way Bradt always seem to have a book on little known destinations and have superbly researched books at that!
Sophie Warne excelled in this book. The background information is superb and she gives a detailed and balanced view of the country. I am now fully confident in my dealings with Gabon and have Sophie Warne to thank for that. A highly recommended read! It is an interesting bok even if one is not plannig a trip to Gabon.

This book is an essential for any visitor to North Korea whether they be a tourist or on a business trip.The layout is very similar tothe 2003 edition with some sections being virtually unchanged.After dealing with the capital 9 areas of the country are given adetailed description-the ones on the border areas are excellent.Wher this book falls down are a)the offwhite colour of the paper withthe small type which makes it difficult to read and b)the small and minimal pictures.North Korea is a very picturesque which deserves better.

Though it makes no pretence of being a back-packing guide it should make more of the fact that this is the guide for those who hire a car and stay in 5* hotels. It gives plenty of great advice on what to take and what the place is like (I might ignore the bit about taking evening dress) but when it comes down to places to stay and sites to see this is very much a guide for those wanting home comforts and safety. If you are an independent traveller get the Lonely Planet guide as it is far more generous with its breadth of hotel reviews and also far more adventurous in the places to go and see. Go to Sri Lanka and enjoy it, this guide was just not the right one for me.

I must confess that I have not (yet) visited Mongolia but after reading Jane Blundens Guide I feel as if I have already been there. Just One of the many reasons why this Guide can be considered exceptional is the fact that Jane Blunden manages to transfer her fascination for All Things Mongolian to the reader. It is something of a misnomer to simply call this work a Travel Guide --it is a great read, one that you can dip in & out of and each time you can be certain that you will learn something new about this wonderful Country. This Guide would make an absolutely perfect Christmas Gift. Eamonn Sreenan , Wexford, Ireland.

I have bought everything on Panama, so I feel qualified to comment. Some look good, but aren't honest. Some promise lots but don't deliver. This one is true. It's a proper guide - with personality, but not so much you drown in the opinions of the author. I get the impression this author really enjoyed Panama, buy she doesn't go overboard. She enjects just the right amount of enthusiam in the right places and is honest about the bad stuff. It makes you trust her judgement - a valuable quality, and one that is missing from many guidebooks on the market. A guide should be just that - A GUIDE - and this is a very good one. Take it from me, I know
