I REALLY REALLY WANTED TO LOVE THIS BOOK AS THE IDEA AND CONCEPT IS VERY ORIGINAL AND HAVE NEVER READ ANYTHING LIKE IT, BUT AFTER REALLY TRYING I AM LEFT FEELING BIT INDIFFERENT TOWARDS IT! GRACE IS EASY TO WARM TO AND SEAMUS IS VERY LOVEABLE BUT FEELS LIKE IT DONT EVER REALLY GET GOING! WAS ALL A BIT SLOW AND SKIPPED PAGES AT TIMES TO FIND MORE INTRESTING PARTS!! WORTH READING JUST FOR THE FUNNY ONE LINERS BUT WOULDNT BE TOP OF MY RECOMMENDATIONS SORRY!!

I was really looking forward to Richard and Judys summer reads but this book really dissapointed me. It missed a good storyline and often I thought it included to much uneccessary detail. I found it quite boring and often thought of just giving up on it. Would not reccomend.

Wow What a brilliant book. i couldnt wait for this book to come out as its the follow on to Angel, i hope there are plenty more books to follow. its so close to katies real life with the depression that angle has. its full of sex drama and scandal and just proves that all the money in the world cant make a marriage work and make you happy. its just a easy and wonderful read. Well done Katie keep them coming cant wait for the next.

... and that's how we like it!

Cato and Macro are back and they are in great shape. Having rested a bit after their last assignment, they are once again ready to do the deeds that need doing to defend the glory that is Rome.

OK, so Scarrow's Eagle-series may not be 'great literature' but it sure as rain in your summer-holiday is great swash-buckling.

I really enjoy this series, and this, the latest addition, doesn't disappoint.

A charming, enjoyable book with a thoughtful slant on morals and kindness. The slips between two time periods were handled proficiently and without jarring. For me it was a relaxing, happy read with much to feel at home with. I live near the area and the descriptions of the lanes, villages and people were all well drawn. Not a book to discuss at length but one to pass on to a friend with the knowledge that you are giving them a treat.

Victoria Hislop has taken a passionate part of Spanish history and turned it into a disappointing and flat novel. Although the book has been well-researched, it appears to have been a hastily written and none of the characters really spring to life, especially Sonia who is rather a pathetic creature compared to her sensual mother! The use of flashbacks does not work at all and there is a complete lack of suspense. My advice - read 'Winter in Madrid' by C J Sansom.

I first read this book as a compulsory text for school and since then have read it countless number of times. It is such a beautiful story that is relevant to every society. You must take your time reading it and not rush it because there are so many hidden depths and meanings. "Shoot all the bluejays you want but remember it is a sin to kill a mockingbird". Everyone must read this book, it's beautiful.

It sounds paradoxical to say that I didn't like the book or Mike Engleby, its central character, yet I enjoyed reading it to the extent that I didn't want to put it down. `Engleby' is disturbing and thought provoking, a brilliant depiction of a societal misfit abused by his father and emotionally neglected by his mother. Outstandingly intelligent, he obtains a scholarship to a second-rate public school where his classmates ostracise him, and thence to Cambridge.

The story is told as a journal, a one-sided account from the warped perspective of a sick mind. My first foray into Marian Keyes and I really enjoyed it. 4 quite different women and their connection to one 'charming' man and how their lives have been influenced - sometimes quite disasterously - by the connection. Not what I was expecting from chick lit ie quite hard hitting in places, plot not comletely predicatable, created a lot of empathy for the characters. I agree with others that the voice of Lola got on my nerves a bit - not really sure what she was trying to achieve here but this didn't really detract from the enjoyment as the story was gripping enough to keep me reading for longs stretches and so I got into the swing of 'Lola speak'. Would recommend for a beach read.
