This is a unique guide book. it is written by authors who are clearly in love with their subject. After spending a lot of time in the Pelopennesse in the 70's I returned 5 years ago. I was delighted to find it so unspoilt. This guide book does what the others do but with much more passion and brio. If you want a guide that goes in some depth about the history as well as hotels and beaches then get it straight away !!! There are detailed notes on ancient sites. It also gives you a good idea for how touristy or otherwise an area is. In my view the best there is.

Despite some of the factual inaccuracies highlighted by other reviewers, I found the Lebanon section of this book extremely informative and very helpful for visiting the country - especially for getting around Beirut. Alas, the section is all too brief and so much focus is given to Syria. Nevertheless, for someone wishing to visit the country properly and get the most out of Beirut at the same time, this is an excellent starter guide. The historical information is well written and adds context to a trip to Lebanon.

Although this took 6 weeks to arrive (which I guess shows how popular it is) it was worth the wait. Its a great place to start for anyone considering buying property in Italy. I have now lent it to a friend who is probably going to buy something in Ambruzzo, and although I ended up not buying property in Italy if I ever did - I would ask for this book back again.

It's got good advice about the regions and important checklists - things to consider costings for things like replacing roofs, renovations etc.

Although if you are thinking of buying in Italy and if you want to renotate though the golden rule is:
