Its a great place to start for anyone considering buying property in Italy. I have now lent it to a friend who is probably going to buy something in Ambruzzo, and although I ended up not buying property in Italy if I ever did - I would ask for this book back again. It's got good advice about the regions and important checklists - things to consider costings for things like replacing roofs, renovations etc. Although if you are thinking of buying in Italy and if you want to renotate though the golden rule is: You must be on site for anything to happen or hire a great project co-ordinator which can be a bit ... .Syria and Lebanon (Cadogan Guides) City Travel Guides > Books > Cadogan Guides by: Michael Haag December 17, 1999 Despite some of the factual inaccuracies highlighted by other reviewers, I found the Lebanon section of this book extremely informative and very helpful for visiting the country - especially for getting around Beirut. Alas, the section is all too brief and so much focus is given to Syria. Nevertheless, for someone wishing to visit the country properly and get the most out of Beirut at the same time, this is an excellent starter guide. As far as I'm aware it's this historical information that most people look for in a guidebook, and certainly the avid followers of Michael Pauls and Dana Facaros whose books for Cadogan in Italy are the sort of witty, wise, insightful works that really bring a city to life. Their small selection of restaurant recommendations are pretty good for a traveller looking for the genuine article, but when it comes to seeing the sights nothing beats Cadogan. As well as being a great guide to all the best places to go in London with kids, it's actually a very interesting read. It's full of information and snippets of little-known facts about London and it's landmarks. Great for impressing the kids while you're out and about on your travels. The book is well written, and aimed at such a level that it doesn't seem like a foreign travel guide, so it can be used easily by British people as well as visitors from other countries. It's divided into easy to use sections which cover various areas of London, so if you're in one particular area it gives you information on what there is to see and do, as well as the best places to eat with children in mind (what a godsend!) ...
