.Marrakesh, Fez, Rabat (Cadogan Guides) City Travel Guides > Books > Cadogan Guides by: Barnaby Rogerson August 25, 2000 First off, I have to say that any country guide that gets the notes and coins of the local currency wrong should be viewed with the deepest suspicion! (Rogerson thinks that there's a 10 Dihram note...). Having said that, despite Rogerson's occasional tendency to snobbery, this is a concise, informative and very readable effort. Crucially, we felt that it neglected likely day-trip destinations around Fes, the restaurant recommendations are annoyingly opinion-free, and no mention was made of Morocco's appallingly badly behaved ATM network. Still, a good alternative to Lonely Planet's dated tome. My family travelled to Brittany this Summer and were a bit disappointed with this book because we found it difficult to use and not very easy on the eye. I bought this book to get the basics (along with the Loney Planet Phrase Book). The book is very well written and organised. I found most of the information up to date and accurate with only a 2 exceptions, which were minor. Maps were pretty good but there were some occasions I wished the street names had been printed in Arabic or at least phonetically written. Also I would have appreciated having all the streets labelled instead of only the major ones.
