I bought this book knowing that it would not have pictures but would have lots of useful information and clear maps because I have been impressed with others in the series. I am not disappointed. The book is clearly laid out and contains lots of helpful information about the area covered, including recommendations on hotels and places to eat.

I would recommend it to anyone wanting a detailed coverage of the area, but you do have to look elsewhere to see photos of the places described.

I was entranced by this book from start to finish; it's a terrific read, on many levels. Taking two small, lively boys and a surrogate 'granny' (a stranger to the family when the journey begins) across the vastness of Canada in the confined spaces of a motorhome was never going to be easy, and Matthew's gift for entertaining writing makes the most of the humour in every situation, honestly and drolly told - some of it will make you wince with sympathy at the things small children do and say which you wish they wouldn't, some of it will make you will laugh out loud, but either way you won't be able to put it down.

Her mission is to find out what the British Empire was all about, how it had come about and what the people thought about their country being part of the British Empire; with particular interest in Queen Victoria as they both share the same first name.
The book only covers nine colonies, which is a shame, however they are taken into much detail as the book is almost three hundred pages long. Everything is explained simply without much jargon as Victoria herself is learning most of the information herself! As a comedienne, she has made the book quite witty and it is a pleasure to read.
