This book is appalling. The average secondary school students magazine would entertain and inform you better than this useless book which has obviously been written by someone who would be better off spending her time darning socks rather than attempting to write a book. It really is pretty poor stuff. Don't bother to buy it!

As I say in the title I have mixed feelings about this book. The descriptions of the country and the people are good, but the underlying theme of the book appears to be how many women the author can sleep with on his way around cuba. I agree with the previous reviewer that this is a shame as it detracts from the overall enjoyment of the book. At times the author seems to slip into a state of abject whingeing and again this is not necessary. I did keep reading the book until the end but was disappointed overall, despite the authors obvious ability to "paint a picture" of Cuba which is real, when he tries.

I have read many books on the sport. This book is by far one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read. A rare look into the world of Cuban boxing and it's heros. Mr. Duncan has written the book in such a way that you feel that you,the reader,are part of the adventure. It is a history lesson. But most of all it is fun to read;open,sad,funny,never boring. Mr.Duncan pulled no punches here! Anyone who loves boxing, or just a GREAT book should read this one. Thanks Mr.Duncan. Viva Cuba,Viva John Duncan!

Tony Blackman's new (2008) book "Flight to St Antony" is a cracking good read. I've seen the phrase "unput-down-able" before without really taking in its meaning until I got my copy of the book in the post last night. Unput-down-able - I read the first half of the book before I fell asleep, and then woke up early and read the rest. Late for work that day, of course, but worth it. I'm still buzzing over the book, and it is now the following evening.

The book builds on his earlier aviation thriller books, with an easier flow of technology and a relaxed and entertaining style.
