I was fortunate enough to study this text for my undergraduate degree, I am of German decent but ostensibly English. This text gives a documatary insight into the horror suffered by both Slavonic and Germanic peoples alike. If your looking for the entire documents look elsewhere here the authers present only the pertinent information. However do not presume that this leads in any way to a bias on the authers part, in my opinion they present the subject matter in an impartial light, which perhaps heightens the sense of the tragedy which is told within these pages. This book provides the usual technical details (armour thickness, speed of the machine etc) you would expect to find alongside information regarding the maintenance required, crew life and firing procedures etc

After giving several examples of excellent performances from each machine, for example relating the story of Otto Carius (over 150 victories) or Wilfred Harris (who destroyer 5 Panther tanks in one day) , the book then discusses in depth the German armoured counterattack during the initial phases of Operation Totalize - the main focus being the death of Michael Wittmann.

While Ashley Hart on the whole disagrees with Brian Reid on how Wittmann was killed he does provide an excellent insight on what happened and favours ... Read More:

This is a very large compelation of first hand accounts by the people who were there. Taking each year of the war in turn it includes a very informative overview of the year by Admiral J.B.Hervey RN. A must for anyone interested in Naval history or just curious about life aboard ship. Added a personal touch to well documented history from the mess decks up. In a similar vein to Max Authur's 'Lost Voices of the Royal Navy'. Just make sure you've got plenty of time to read it, its nearly 600 pages long!

An American General (Ike) entered the death camps in Germany he ordered photographs to be taken of everything all the local residents were taken to the camps to bury the dead and to be witnesses as to the atrocities that had occured there so that a record was made for history.
This book by Mr Peek is a very moving and should also be an historical document so that future politicians are not allowed to let this occure again. Children around the world should be made to read it, they are the future in all countries.
The book is possibly one of the best books I have read.

An informative yet chilling view of how the murder of the most vunerable section of society can be undertaken and how it can be concealed.
T4 was the thin end of the wedge which we now call the Holocaust.
Any who would deny the Holocaust would do well to read this book and see what went before.
In undersatnding the nature of the Hitler goverment and how the most radical and dangerous ideas could become a murderous reality this book deserves your attention.
Well written , excellent source and foot notes , this is murder which cannot be denied nor explained away.

This well written book is a cliff-hanger, a tear jerker and the most frightening lesson in the behaviour of supposedly civilized races.
It should be mandatory reading for all schools and universities in the free world. The bestial atrocities detailed in its pages need to be shown in the light of day so that public conscience ensures that they never be repeated.
The author's incredible faith and determination shine through, as does the spirit of the Polish people.
This might be the most comprehensive and detailed report ever written by a survivor.

A great account of a Chapter in WW2. Max has researched this period at the end of the war with his usual professionalism and has written a great account of the the history of the 2nd Panzer Division's last days and the Resistance's efforts to impede their advance.
A great read as usual from Mr Hastings.
