I have to agree with the other reviews.

If you are new to the game, this is a must read book!

Read it before anything else, and at least it will give you all you need to play the game, and not feel like a complete FISH.

Once you have learned from this book, you can progress onto more detailed books with the Basic knowledge required to understand them.

I actually borrowed this book from the local library, and found it very interesting and informative as well as being very easy to read and understand.

I found this book well written and down to the point. The strengths: sensible forecasts about future scenarios, good investment suggestions, useful tips on how to avoid common pitfalls, helps to concentrate on few ideas (avoiding getting confused by the tons of new suggestions coming out every day from the media). The weakness: the 10 big ideas are not that original and the book is sometimes too shallow. And the annoying bit: it is OK that the authors show they believe so much in their ideas to invest in them, but it's annoying to see Jim and Al suggesting more than ones that one of the best ways to invest is through one of Jim's businesses, listed among only two or three other options. This book is a great overview of what can be achieved with MOM. If you are new to integration/messaging, as I was, this book is an invaluable resource to get you up to speed on the major concepts and challenges faced by developers using this technology.
The book is vendor independent, although a lot of examples are shown for JMS or MQMQ, the concepts could easily be applied to other MOM technologies such as WebSphere MQ.

I passed my network plus first time, using this book along with the exam cram one. This book is a huge tome!! However, half of it is pictures and diagrams so don't let that put you off.

It is written in a very witty conversational style which is brilliant if you are new to IT (as I was). A lot of the network plus books are very dry, but I found Mike's style made very complex topics come to life. I was really struggling to get me head round the OSI model until I read MIke's explanation which was both very funny and very graphic! For example, he does a whole spiel about a gathering of relatives in a pub to explain the session layer! The word "carnivorous," which appears in the title of this book, means "meat-eating," and once you have read such a bloodthirsty word, there is no reason to read any further. This carnivorous volume contains such a distressing story that consuming any of its contents would be far more stomach-turning than even the most imbalanced meal. To avoid causing discomfort, it would be best if I didn't mention any of the unnerving ingredients of this story, particularly a confusing map, an ambidextrous person, an unruly crowd, a wooden plank, and Chabo the Wolf Baby. The rating I would give, for this terrible story which began in the boot of the enemy, is 7/ 10.

Not the best Conn Iggulden, but still very good. Really you need to read the first book in the Conqueror series before reading this, but it is not vital. Conn sketches out the characters, locations and events very well and the story/history is excellent. Goodies and baddies developed well. My only criticisms are that I think the book is a little short, and I think Conn wraps it all up quite quickly. I dont think so far that this series has scaled the hights of some of the Emporer series, but still Conn is probably one of the best fiction/history writers around.

I'm a fan of weight-watcher recipe books; they are straightforward, clear and usually provide delicious results. So when I saw that a new book had been published, I ordered it. I've sent it straight back! On opening the book, it is immediately apparent that all these recipes have been published in earlier books, and that this is a 'compilation'. If you have no other WW books, then this won't matter, but I do think that the description ought to say that most (if not all) of the recipes come from other WW books. Disappointing!

My almost 9 month old boy LOVES this range of books. He loves touching all the different textures on the pages and is learning to turn the pages himself now. My just turned 3 year old boy still enjoys them too, so these are a nice choice of book to read to them both together. They're very sturdy and quite toothproof too!

If you're a fan of spartan description then few do it better than Graham, making this a must own book as we continue the tale of the Ultramarine Chapter as two of their brothers fight their way back through the warp in an effort to return home as their ultimate goal. Cracking battle sequences, gripping characters and a story that will have you reading late into the night to discover the fate of many of the characters. Topped off with twists, desperate combat and sequences that appear as clear pictures within the reader's imagination. What more do you want in a book?
