A fascinating and absolutely rivetting novel.

I finished The Northern Clemency 4 weeks ago and have been letting it sink in. It is a wonderfully resonant novel, and the people and places still live within my head. It is, for want of a better word, a 'family saga', following the lives of two Sheffield families from the 1970s to today but it is also much more than that. It creates an entire world with a 'cast of dozens', with some marvellous cameo chapters devoted to secondary figures who make the world come alive. It is terribly emotionally involving; it made me weep twice, and this is _because_ of its sparse language that allows the reader to fill in the gaps. What a little gem this is. I can't believe this passed me by (well it was on the radio so that's probably why). This is probably better than anything I have seen on TV for the last couple of years. I must admit that I haven't seen the HBO TV series and I'm not sure if I really want to because this is so good that I don't want to be disappointed.

For those of you who don't know, Flight of the Conchords are a real band, they even have an album out on the sub pop label. Though this radio series is a fictitious account of their attempt to break into the UK scene. A great book for fun activities all year round. As soon as i saw it in the bookshop i loved it, and still do to this day, love it, love it, love it!If you like this but want something even better, try the great big glorius book for girls. By the way, i LOVE the illustrations!

I have never been able to cook desserts until this book landed in my kitchen. i have now tried several recipes - delicious. the millionaires shortbread and the trick with condensed milk is fab!

Okay, this is a book about the history of PR. The three reviews before mine are all five star reviews. When you click on the link to she the reviewers other reviews, not one of them has reviewed another book. It's just the friends of the authors, agent, editor, or publisher posting good reviews for this book. Its just PR!

I'm actually reading it, and while the history is somewhat interesting, the book does not deserve five stars. It's a 2.5 tops. This would make a good 200 page book. The author stretches out tedious stories to fill chapters. Like I said, I think it's mildly interesting because I know nothing of the history of PR. If you do, you may ant to skip this one.

William Shatner makes it clear fairly early on this book that his keyboard is firmly in his cheek as he retells the story of his life and trys to sell you stuff from his on-line store.

While some will find the style off-putting this is a very personal memoir from a television icon - an actor for almost 60 years he has at least three great shows to his name (Star Trek, T.J. Hooker and Boston Legal) but the book is about more: his joys, his tragedies, his life "up till now".

If you are a fan of his work there are plenty of anecdotes about the well known shows and horror stories about the unknown films. Other facets included are his family, his charity work and his passions - food, woman, horses - maybe not in that order but you get the idea.

A great read. I couldn't put it down. I think the layout is captivating which made it easy to read. The content is well laid out and it's worth the value. I'll definitely recommend anyone to read this book even if you think you are an expert in Networking. This book is more than good it's brilliant!!!

If this was a work of fiction you would have a hard time suspending disbelief to enjoy the amazing cast of characters, the strange alliances,the actions and inactions that decorate the plot. You would also be dismayed at the contrived outcome of the Siege of Malta.
BUT
This is an amazing true story told using a page - turning cracking narrative. I regret that I have only read half of the book but am glad I have half left to read.
Read this book and get swept away on the raging tide of history.

Was so excited when my book arrived today but to be quite honest was rather disappointed. Although the book is extremely heavy and the paper quality good, I personally was not too excited by the photos at all. Maybe I was expecting more Wildlife scenes or more landscape scenes. Too many "people" photos for my liking. Also each photograph is spread over two pages which often distracted due to the join in page. On the positive side there are a few stunning photos.
