My criteria for a good 'family' cook book is whether the recipes satisfy the fussiest of eaters at your dinner table. I've tried and cooked a number of recipes from this book and they not only work but also both my children enjoy and more to the point finish the final result. You need good, simple nourishing recipes that are not over rich and this book ticks all those boxes.

There is a huge and confusing array of recipe books out there catering for this market and whilst Tana Ramsey benefits from having a famous husband as well as a TV series, her recipes are simple, attractive and more to the point taste good. I recommend this book.

I've had this book (the older edition) for almost 10 years now and I'm still using it. The recipes always work perfectly, the short little stories over each recipe are fun to read and I've never made any soup from this or the other two books without people asking for second, third and in one case even fourth helpings (and most of the time the soup was supposed to be the starter!). Normally, I make at least double the quantities because of that. Can you say more to show just how yummy the recipes are? This definitely is a book I couln't live without. Everybody should have it!

I feel compelled to comment about this excellent recipe book aimed specifically at babies, toddlers and children. It is the best book of its kind out there and has been an absolute lifesaver. My 1 year old doesn't like food much... in fact he only started eating at 9 months. I tried all sorts of food, bought and otherwise. Quite simply, the most success I have had is with recipes from this book. I currently have one in the oven and one on the stove as I'm typing. I really love the format too. Much more useful than the Annabel Karmel books and a must have for all mums (and dads!).

Everything you could possibly need to know in one handy compact book. Every cook should have a copy of this on their shelf - it is like having a mini delia in your kitchen which you can refer to as and when you need it. Fab!

I love cooking and I have to say that this is one of my favourites. It has every recipe you can imagine and it explains very good what you are doing. You learn a lot about cooking... I think it is a must have book for your collection.

I recived this book as a present and have enjoyed using this for quick and easy fish dishes.
Also, unlike Real Fast Food there are good chicken dishes here particularyl of the curry and Moroccan variety.

Its a reliable indication a cookbooks value and usefulness if its encrusted with splashes and looks as if it has been marinated in soy sauce. My copy of China Modern is rapidly approaching health hazard status. Its up there with my (rather older) Ken Hom's Chinese Cookery and that's praise indeed. If you only bought one chinese cookery book this would be a good one to pick. Indeed the kung pao chicken recipe alone more than repays the cost. My partner now claims this as his signature dish and is only too happy to rush to the kitchen to prepare it. Ching-he's food stands out because it tends to be punchier and more flavoursome than many a standard chinese recipe. I picked this up from a friend and went out to buy the essential ingredients for the basic curries - cumin, fennel, mustard seeds, tamarind, cardomom, cinammon etc...and low and behold i have been able to create some lovely authentic curries - just like you get the curry house!!!

what amazed me most was how simple it was and also how cheap it is to eat indian food - once you have a collection of the basic ingredients all you need is bit of meat, veg, stock or coconut milk - obviously there are some recepies that require a few more things buying from the shop but often you can omit the odd ingredient and still get a great tasting dish.

I purchased a dual rice cooker/slow cooker, mainly for the rice bit, but on looking for recipes suitable for a slow cooker I plumped for this book for starters. Unfortunately this book is just an updated version of an old book first published around 30 years ago, so the recipes are a bit "living in the 70s" (beef bourguignon anyone?). Slow cooking seems to be undergoing a bit of a revival, but we really need some new recipe books with more sophisticated recipes and flavours for more modern tastes.

I love this book, infact I love juicing. Jason is a great inspiration and juicing certainly helped me to a healthier and trimmer body. I have tried most of the recipes and all of them taste wonderful. The vegetable ones are a great way to use up the excess stock from my allotment.
I didn't even buy this book - it came free with my juicer, now that's a bargain.
