This book is a good introduction to Slimming World's food optimising diet but doesn't provide enough information to stay on the diet long term. To use your own recipes or eat pre-prepared food you will need the full lists of free foods and sin values. You can only get these if you join a class or pay another £10 to get the books direct from Slimming World.

Having said that, the provided menus do look tasty - but how many people eat starters and desserts or have time to prepare Greek Fish Wrapped in Vine Leaves at lunch time? Some ideas for packed lunches would have been good.

As a last minor quibble, the sin values for all the recipes are listed in a separate table at the back of the book so you are constantly flicking ... Read More:

C J J Berry was a master on winemaking. I have bought and read most books on winemaking. This is the one I always turn back to. If you have to buy one book on homewinemaking this is the one! He begins my explaining the concepts and techniques of winemaking in easy to understand terms. He also explains the science behind the process but he is never confusing or condescending. I have never come across a problems which has not been solved by his troubleshooting section and his procedures are comprehensive but easy to follow. The remainder of the book takes you through a wine making year with suggestions, recipies and leaves you confident enough to experiment successfully. I have most of this range and I use them most days. The ingredients are items you mainly keep in your larder and they are easy to follow. I love cooking and have many cookbooks, but I can honestly say that this range of books are the most used. Traditional and wholesome recipes that will provide you with many gorgeous treats!!!!!!!! You can also purchase any of these titles from the publisher if you cannot locate any of them - this is a service I have had to use as Amazon do not stock all of them. Its not entirely true that you get what you pay for - in some cases you get MORE!!! and I am pleased to say this is one of those cases.

Famous for Spanish- and North African-style food, the couple have gone East - literally and metaphorically. A few years ago they `acquired' an allotment in London's East End and found, amongst fellow growers, Turks, Greeks and Cypriots. The two Sams swiftly became part of the allotment community even if there's little detail of any actual digging in the book. Rather it marks the passage of the seasons and the breadth of the crops with rich and alluring recipes - some their own, others weeded from neighbours.

This was the first book I bought before starting classes in cake decorating. Although I am more advanced now I found I could acheive really good results with this book when I had limited skills and knowledge. They are simple enough to do when you have young children around that want to help. My grandchildren all helped decorate their own birthday cakes chosen from this book, we started with the pirate ship with chocolate bar gang planks. Although sometimes you have to be a little inventive and substitute some of the sweets that are not readily available here, part of the fun is thinking up alternatives to use in the planning stage with the children, and they were very good at coming up with ideas of what to use instead.

I've recently caught the cupcake bug and after reading the great reviews i decided to order myself a copy and was not disappointed! It includes the basics on how to make a simple batch of cupcakes, how to make the icing, frosting, ganache and then includes the inspiring recipes that makes you want to get into the kitchen straight away! It includes those simple cupcake recipes that we'd all want to try, celebration recipes for those who'd like to bake for a wedding or Christmas event and then indulgent cupcake recipes for those who'd like to pamper themselves with creamy banoffe cupcakes or gooey chocolate hazelnut cupcakes - a slice for everyone really!

I bought Rick Gallop's GI Diet Green-Light Cookbook because I am following a low GI/low carb diet. I was looking for more options so that I had flexibility with menu planning. The recipes look lovely and I have tried the Strawberry Tea Bread which is really good.

The reason I am giving this cookbook 3 stars is because it is lacking 2 things which I think are really important: serving sizes and caloric breakdown. For instance on the Strawberry Tea Bread, it says that it makes 2 loaves but it would be nice to know what size slice is a serving size. If you are keeping track of your caloric intake, you won't have any guidance with this cookbook unfortunately.

The recipes are lovely but without nutritional guidance, it lets down the cookbook.

Loved the accompanying TV series but very disappointed with this book.

I'm not anti-Jamie by any stretch and still regularly borrow from earlier volumes but having had this book since it came out a couple of years ago I've not used a single recipe. If you live somewhere with a decent deli and can obtain the necessary ingredients then maybe this is for you but for someone like me, living in a chav town with nothing but large supermarkets, there's little on offer which could easily be replicated.

Yes, it's pleasant visually, but I buy recipe books in order to cook from them and in that respect this book was money wasted. At he's produced better since with the excellent Jamie At Home.
