This recipe book is a superb addition to anyone's culinary library - clearly not every recipe will suit every person but it is inconceivable that you would not find a significant number of useful recipes in here and even if you found just one nugget, then considering the price, it would be well worth it.

I actually used this book quite heavily at first and have done so on a regular basis ever since. And still do.

The variety of recipes in this and the rest of the 1000 series is simply staggering - to say you are stuck for choice is an understatement.

Ok, so there are no photographs but against that, the books don't cost a fortune either and they are compact.

This is the second book of the series, and as ever is fantastic. The book is slighty more advanced than the first is is packed full of very useful and help step by step tips. There are sections all about chocolate, embroidery, making flowers, recipes, runouts, figure piping, bas relief, marzipan....I could go on because the techniques are endless. A must have for a cake maker or someone who just wants to try different methods and styles.

This book is produced by Pierre Gagnaire who has held the title of the 3rd best restaurant in the world for the past few years (El Buli and the Fat Duck being 1st and 2nd respectively.

It is a good quality book with about 50 michelin 3 star recipes. As usual with these books some recipes are very do able by the skilled home chef and others really need a brigade of chefs. That does not bother me as with all these books you are pushing the envolope as to what is possible at home which I like.

Although the recipes are on a par with the French Laundry (Thomas Keller 4th best restaurant)and Recipes of a 3 star chef (Gordon Ramsey) the book is not as sumptuous as these works in terms of layout and photos. Both of these books ... Read More:

Delia knows her cooking, however, she hasn't researched vegetarianism properly. She is using parmesan. All vegetarians know that parmesan is not vegetarian, so she should mention to use the substitute cheese. It is misleading new vegetarians into thinking parmesan is ok. That's why only 2 stars.
If one reads the recipes carefully and alter it accordingly then there are some very nice new ideas in this book..

This book is proof that good things come in small packages - it was lying unused on a shelf for a long time before I picked it up and decided to make something from it and since then the book has become grubby and stained due to the number of times I've used it. Someone else has already pointed out it is great value for money and I definitely agree on this.

A perfect book for when you need something quick to make after a long day at work! It's full of easy, uncomplicated recipes.

This book sets out to give recipes that are nutritious. This sounds dull, but actually the food is very good and the little bits of information about minerals and vitamins in food were very useful. I like cooking, and this is a 'cook's book'; she gives little tips on cooking, and - as a fairly experienced cook - I did find them helpful. Yes, she does tell you to roast and grind your cumin, but one can always take short cuts. Preparation does not take ages. Frying in a skillet is the norm, but then how would you get an intense flavour without it? The beauty is that there are no tins of condensed soup etc (well, yes in the tuna casserole, but I forgive her that). This is proper, healthy food. Mr. Wallace has produced a great read that is interesting from a historical prospective while it harpoons the very wealthy whose pursuit of money is no longer satisfying. Nope, these folks have to pursue a type of collectable that they cannot have any provenance for, which experts in the field can only hope to guess at what the bottle contains. Wine that is a century younger than the bottle on the book cover might at best be "recognizable as wine", unless of course it has become an ingredient for salad dressing.

The central charlatan in this tale is a master at exploiting the wishes of collectors and even the experts that should know better. Or perhaps that do know better and just let their own egos persuade them that in spite of zero evidence ... Read More:

I just love this book. The photography is wonderful and the recipe's work brilliantly. It is a book that I return to for solid recipes for special occasions. Definitely one of my favourites.
