All style and no substance. The recipes are very brief and leave you guessing. Covers all the favourites, but not in any detail. Sorry I wasted the money and I found it a copy of the popular blue covered tourist cookbook available in every language in the souvenier shops, so don't buy it if you already have that one!

This recipe book has a great range of menus from quick and easy snacks to preparing a full meal. Only criticism I would say is that alot of the recipes don't have pictures, yet there is always space to put a small one in - it's difficult to imagine what these recipes will or should look like when done correctly!

If you only want to own one book about Japanese cooking, I strongly recommend you buy this one. It doesn't look like much, but it's extremely good value for money.

The recipes are very clear, and although it seems a very slim volume, it covers many different styles of Japanese dishes, including a variety of rice and noodle dishes, sushi and onigiri, tempura, soups, desserts and also just homestyle meat, fish and vegetable dishes. Each recipe is accompanied by clear colour photographs not only of the finished dish but also of any unusual steps in the cooking process.

Brilliant book. Clear, uncomplicated, simple, varied, tasty, full of good ideas and all with colour pictures. Can't recommend it enough. Yummy!

This book is just lovely! It contains lots of trivia about the history of drinking tea and the rituals that go with it, as well as countless recipes for all the traditional foods served with tea in the UK. Very nice!

I'm not much of a cook but I found the recipes very easy to follow and also very tasty. There's a lot to get through, and the history behind each receipe is well worth a read. More importantly, it has a great chocolate pudding which tastes just as good as the the picture in the book.

a range of recipes some of which you will have seen before. I think the strength of this book is that it is so small (i.e. there's not hundreds of recipes) and so all it contains are dishes you'd actually want to cook and, possibly more importantly, those you can cook.

Unlike other cook books, Aldo doesnt just show you the finished product and give you instructions on how to get there, he also gives you photographs of what the dish should look like at various stages so this gives you some condfidcence that what you are doing is right.

If you've never cooked Italian before (and I have) then this is a good book to get you started - a book full of simple cooking, simply put !

This is the second book of the series, and as ever is fantastic. The book is slighty more advanced than the first is is packed full of very useful and help step by step tips. There are sections all about chocolate, embroidery, making flowers, recipes, runouts, figure piping, bas relief, marzipan....I could go on because the techniques are endless. A must have for a cake maker or someone who just wants to try different methods and styles.

This book is well informed and an excellent source of traditional French charcuterie recipes. However it only gets three stars for the following reasons. Firstly this edition suffers from sloppy editing. Some recipes and passages of text appear to have words and sentences missing which render those sections useless.

Secondly things have moved on in the use of salpetre and cure mixtures that are better covered in e.g. "Charcuterie: The Craft of Salting, Smoking and Curing", particularly because we now recognise health implications in their use.

This book is good for reference but there are better books (see above) for the uninitiated

For the most part, Mr.Wilbur s "secrets" closely guarded by eateries.Tho' he is off a good country mile on KFC.Coleslaw is :shredded cabbage, carrotts,onions,bind w/Miracle Whip,sugar,cider vinegar,salt,touch of milk.3 days in fridge will last.Biscuits are:regular flour, white Crisco type shortening,use paddle of mixer, make course crumbs add leaveners,baking powder,sugar and butter-milk. Knead briefly on floured surface after all mixed. Roll out 2" thick,brush off flour on top,won't cook in oven and tastes ugh.2"cutter,press down, twist &you seal the sides,doesn't rise evenly.350 oven and keep close together for soft sides,apart for crispy edges.Brush with butter/margerine when done--10-12 minutes.
