A friend gave me this book as a gift when my daughters were small and it was an inspiration. Now my children are grown up and each time one of their friends starts a family they give this book as a gift. My daughters both work with children and are still referring to my very battered copy.

This is a lovely little booklet which contains great recipes and good colour pictures! For me, as a Dutch person, it is ideal since it uses the metrical system. UK buyers don't worry: there is a very easy-to-use table in the back converting metrical to the Uk system.

I rate this a 5+ !

Recipes include chutneys, pickles, oven dried tomatoes, a spicy coriander jam and more...

Aha, I thought - a recipe book written by a diabetic nutritionist! What more could I want, it'll give me all the information I need! I'll tell you what more I want - recipes which give the carbohydrate value of prepared food. As a Type 1 diabetic, my entire food intake relies on accurate counting of carbohydrate. That's why I bought this book, and it gives no help whatsoever with carbohydrate values. I can use any recipe book I choose and work out the carbohydrate content for myself; it's tedious and turns cooking into an exercise in arithmetic. Similar recipes could be found in any book advocating healthy eating, ie low fat, less sugar and salt, more fresh fruit and vegetables, and wholemeal bread and pasta. Three weeks in China last year- lower cholesterol and no gastric reflux-so chefs hat on and 2/3 home cooked Chinese meals a week. Overall I have not been disappointed.First time round , stick religiously to the recipes (on those where some ingredients do not mysteriously disappear) - you will find some absolute gems. Some will require your intervention second time round to boost the taste, persevere, experience comes through. A wonderful addition to my library - and I am 74yo. Frank Wood.

This is a very good and useful book.
It is comparable to the quality of its website. WIth still lots of species, very very useful nature and well-written, down to the point and synthetic. With also a personal look and a bit of permaculture/ecological taste.
I give it 9 out of 10. A book that you must have.
However I think it could have a more inspiring and colorful design. It is good text, good presentation with a dozen pages of colorful pictures. Still its very worth to have it.
And if you think you have the website, there is nothing than having the book in physical form, which is more personal.

This is a fantastic book. I ordered it on a chance that the cake on the cover would be the setting for the entire book and it is. all of the designs are modern, fun and simple, just how cakes should be. These are truly beautiful designs that are easily achieved by a beginner as well as a professional. I make cakes for a living and I can see this book being well thumbed by my customers and well used by me. Lovely fresh designs depicting the style that celebration cakes are taking right now. Highly recommended!

When I bought this book I was hoping for a book with simple easy to make recipes (soups should be easy I think). Some of the recipes are just too overcomplicated.

This was the first book I bought by Ainsley Harriott and up to now all of the recipes I have tried have been fantastic. You seriously can't go wrong with his recipes!

If you do buy this book, please, please try his Tikka Massala, it's to die for. I can guarantee you will think twice about ordering a curry from the local Indian Takeaway once you have tried Ainsleys! My husband and I made it for 20 hungry RAF personnel and it went down a storm!!

I would also recommend the salmon fish cakes, cheesy fish pie, the quiche recipe...oh the list goes on.

I always turn to this book when I'm not too sure what to make for our evening meal and we are never disappointed with the results, it truly is a fantastic asset to any kitchen.
