The book tells the history of the wheat beer, which was very interesting. The different kinds of wheat beers are decreibed in detail. The brewing process for big breweries are decreibed in detail.In the end there are two extract recipies and 5 allgrain recipies for homebrewers in metric and american measurements. All in all the book covers the subject very well for the homebrewer and the microbrewer.
But you get very thirsty when you are reading the book !

Marian McNeill explores the varieties of cooking available in Scotland. She leaves out some of the more common recipes, to be found in more generalist cookbooks, and recognises, also, that many 'traditional' Scottish dishes have their counterparts in other parts of the British Isles (and, indeed, Europe). She concentrates, therefore, on the self-evidently 'national' dishes and the ones most likely to be forgotten "in this age of standardization" (she was writing in 1929)!

Wilson's book on the connection between geology and wine is truly amazing. It serves just as good as a short course in geology as an in-depth guide to fine french wines. The book lets you understand the reasons for subtle differences in the character of wines that originate from what may seem as the same terroir.

However, as my passion is Alsace, I have looked into details of this section. Unfortunatly, many maps are only "almost" correct; Grand Cru sites are mixed up or put in the wrong commune, rivers have been mixed up etc.

Nevertheless, this is a piece of work that every serious french wine enthusiast must own, and read!
