I love this product, although it does have a downfall, which is the tracks are really long, so if you were to get to the fifth minute, and you had to do something else, you would have to fast forward to get to that same position. However, you can get some software for free off the Internet to make the long tracks into shorter ones (audacity). This product has caused some controversy in discussion amongst my friends and myself. I find the product great, but some of my friends argue that learning long lists of words doesn't work. Well I'm living proof that it does work, but it may not work for some depending on your learning style. This uses exactly the same flight script as the French, Spanish (and no doubt other ones!). However, it's in a relaxed manner so you can listen, and pickup kew words and phrases easily. We tend to find the conversation funny rather than irritating, "Aaaaandy, Italian's are very polite people". Once you've heard the same about every other nationality, it does make you smile! Easy to listen to at home, in the car or on your iPod. And very useful as a starter into the language. If you only know a handful of words, or you are a complete newbie to Italian, I'd recommend the Teach Yourself CD. It also comes with a brief booklet covering the words and phrases.

I had been waiting for over two months for this title to be published and sent to me and when it finally arrived I was rather disappointed by the way topics are arranged in it.
There is no index of topic areas, skills practised or grammar aspects in each unit.
It offers a variety of activities according to the new vision of language teaching which involves group and mingling activities BUT the layout is very confusing, the pictures and drawings are of poor quality. Not very appealing to students (or teachers).

These tapes contain about 40 "lessons", which aren't lessons at all but just lists of words and phrases where you have the opportunity to listen to the Italian phrases and repeat them. There's no association with a situation to help you remember, and no explanation of any of the vocabulary or grammar you are "using".

It may be quite effective for remembering lists of words, but not in any way that you'll find easy to use in a conversation. I'd advise you to steer clear of this, except maybe as an extra tool to help you revise your existing Italian vocabulary.

If you want to begin Italian, this is completely unsuitable ... go for Michel Thomas or Pimsleur instead, both of which are excellent.

We opened our "Linguafun Italian" yesterday to try it with children and I was instantly impressed! We invented our own game where everyone has 10 cards and can take a turn only having the whole set of 3 cards (red-white-blue) This way the game lasts around 20-25 minutes. Children loved to read their sentences, translate it, choose different options. And they kept on asking me to play it again and again! I have to say we have many relatives in Italy, but over the years, trying different approaches, we couldn't make our children actually speak italian! With these cards they speak instantly! Of course it will take time to memorise the words or associate them with real situations but they do like it, they enjoy trying it again and again, they read it aloud. ... Read More:

has a lot of work for groups or writing, so no good for self-study. SO many mistakes its unbelieveable (e.g. missing CD tracks, missing answers, extra answers to questions which dont exist, spelling errors just to name a few).

This pack comes with CD, course book and answer key with tapescript. you have to buy the Activity book with all the grammar work seperately. This activity book, saves my rating from being a 1 star. it is a good book with lots of practice. the course book is rubbish. even the feel is out of date. it says it is the 2nd edition published in 2006, but the photos look like they come from the 80's and the layout is not very pretty. certainly not wotrth the money, but good luck if you can find another intermediate course!! ...
