The regions covered by this book are extensive with a huge variety of styles and quality. This book is a really good overview - which would be of great assistance to anyone taking a Diploma in wine or has an interest in particularly Italian wines. The book does cover a number of producers and is well written and clear. I would recommend this book.

I really like Ursula Ferrigno's style of cooking, and was really looking forward to this book after reading 'Truly Italian'. The recipes in this book look great, but there are a couple of typos (which are annoying but not that big a deal) and missing steps in some recipes (I've noticed two recipes so far where there are clearly some instructions missing). It should be said that you'll probably be able to overcome any mistakes and produce great food just as the recipe intended by using your intuition, but its disappointing that the book went into production in what feels like a half proof-read state.

I have a number of cook books but I must say this is one of my favourites. The pictures of the different meals are presented lovingly with vibrance and colour.

At first when I received the book I was a bit overwhelmed with the receipes as the majority are Italian and I thought would be impossible. However you soon come to realise that you have a good mixture of receipes.Ones which need every day cupboard ingredients, to others which you may have to buy special but not impossible to find ingredients.

I believe this cookbook is great for giving new twists to old ideas, for instance I now grill fish marinated in Lime and pepper juice to give a slightly different taste to my meals. Not only does it help with everyday meals, ... Read More:

Matthew Fort's epic scooter ride up the thigh-boot of Italy is a truly delicious read. Every aspect of the fascinating and varied Italian life he encountered is amusingly reflected upon in his lightly erudite prose. I thought his acknowledgement of feeling homesick (unlike Thesiger et al) was particularly endearing and the description of his amateurish Vespa riding in Naples most entertaining.Mr Fort was the restaurant critic for The Guardian, a foodie professional, but the gusto with which he describes the various meals he was presented with en route shows a boyish enthusiast peeping through the culinary afficionado. We have been long awaiting a book of sweet treats since Ursula's Cakes and Puddings sadly went out of print. This new book has exceded out expectations -not only is it choc full of wonderful puddings and cakes but also icecream (Italian ice creams need we say more-roll on summer and the opportunity to try). Our two favourites in the Books for Cooks cafe are the Farmhouse Apple Cake (has customers clamouring for more) and the Positano Chocolate and Almond cake (the addition of lemon zest to a choclate cake is original and inspired). Delicious !
