The book's pages are more like those found in children's books, big pictures at full colours and little text. The CD is not easy to follow, as it does not mentions what page is referring to. .Practice Makes Perfect: Italian Pronouns and Prepositions: Practice Makes Perfect City Travel Guides > Books > Languages by: Daniela Gobetti May 01, 2006 Written in a sloppy and thoughtless style. E.g. On page 5 the learner is introduced to two sentences: 'Seals love to play' and 'Bats are mammals.' This is redolent of the infamous nineteenth-century travellers' guide which offered 'My postillion has been struck by lightning' as a useful phrase to memorise. It is also full of careless mistakes e.g. on page 8 we are taught that 'a sinistra' means 'on the right.' .French Grammar in Context City Travel Guides > Books > Languages by: Margaret Jubb May 30, 2008 As an advanced learner of French, I found this book very useful. I particularly enjoyed the thoughtful emphasis on identifying (and rectifying) errors of grammar consistently made by English speakers when learning French. Unlike other reviewers, I found the range of texts used to be varied and interesting - I went on to discover the stories of Prevert from reading extracts in this book. The analysis provided for each text is thorough and cross referenced throughout.
