This book was well worth the couple of quid I paid for it. To me Joseph Massino is the most interesting character in the history of Cosa Nostra, probably because he became the first boss to flip and become a cooperator with the government, so this book to me was excellent. I have read other books about Massino. The last Godfather by Simon Crittle and Five Families by Selwyn Raab which contains a large section on Massino and the fall of the Bonnano/Massino family. However this is the best account. It can be easily read, it flows, is well researched with some previously unknown facts contained in it. this book is unbelivable, i couldnt put it down, scouse norm has been blessed with an amazingly interesting life, i wanted to hear about the the criminals in his life and the dealings they had together what i didnt expect to hear was the humore that was linked to these people,it really is a fantastic read and i would recomend it to everyone

I've now read both of Roberta Kray's books 'The Debt' and now 'The Pact'
I must give the author credit, this book is much better than her 1st.
The story line is great, something is always happening to make the plot thicken.
I did enjoy this book but i wasnt hooked. It took me a whole week to finish it. Im glade i did cos i liked it, the ending was great, writing was good etc.
Im not going to give up on this author, cos im sure her next book will be even better!

I've now read both of Roberta Kray's books 'The Debt' and now 'The Pact'

Saviano's insight on this deadly subject made me wonder a few times about his personal relationship with the people he so openly denounces. This is a 28-year-old courageous man who has decided to put his life on the line to cast some light into the darkes area of Italy's social and political life. When I read the first chapter, I had the distinct feeling that what I had in my hands was a truly ground-breaking book. When I read about the links between organised crime and global trade, and to such a scale as well, I could understand why Italy is in the G8 in spite of his disastrous economy and almost irreversible ideological void. Who thinks that organised crime is a phenomenon contained within the Italian peninsula, must think again. Eye-opening and inspirational.

I don't believe Bernard O'Mahoney is an angel, but he certainly makes a great author.

His prose is sardonic and to the point, sometimes very funny. The stuff about Dave Courtney had me howling with laughter. I also remember the TV programme Wimps to Warriors and all agreed at work the following day, that Courtney acted and dressed like something out of a comedy act.

That said, it's a pretty sad fact some impressionable youngsters take such fakes seriously and then try to emulate them with such appalling consequences.

This is reminiscent of the legend of Damocles. Who constantly flattered Dionysius, the King of Syracuse, admiring his position of prestige and power which he wanted to attain. So Dionysius arranged for Damocles ... Read More:

Brilliant read very well put together. If you like this try Soft Target by Conrad Jones thats a real shocker set in Liverpool. recommend both !!

I brought this book when i was home in oxford england for the plane ride Back to the USA.
I could not put it down.
Ive always had an intereast in the twins and being an Ex pat Brit you find things much more intreasting when you can relate being from the same background.
American organized crime is written about very much in fact their is thousands of books to read about the mafia.

This book is about Reg and his time locked up for 30 years not so much about the twins heyday in the 60s.
Reg talks about the highs and lows of his time inside and about the cruel way the authorities play with your mind.
The prisons in general seem not to be intreasted in rehab but only interested in breaking men and their spirits.
