This a quite remarkably badly written book. The subject matter is certainly there (abused as a child, marries into a gangster family, runs a pub in a dodgy area of Glasgow), yet the book fails to engage or provide a narrative thread.

The central issue is that of the author's abuse as a child and all that that then leads to as an adult. However, the story as written is so confused, with neither understandable sequencing of events, nor any kind of proper end to it, that the book descends into a series of badly documented vignettes, largely featuring "20 years after" speeches which cannot conceivably be accurate.

Not worth buying other than for 1p from your local market stall. Even then, think twice.

I was looking forward to reading this book.However within the first 50 pages,I found myself skipping paragraphs and then pages.There seems to be no chronological order to this book.One minute you're in the '50s then you're back to the '20s telling you about some neighbours' distant 2nd cousins cat!I was hoping to read about Billy Hill and Jack Spot but there are so many other names mentioned,together with their past(who are irrelevant to the story)that it detracts from the bigger picture.The book has obviously been well researched but it seems all the information was put in a barrel and drawn out lucky dip style!I wanted an orderly history of the events in their lives but this is anything but.I finally gave up after 100 pages or so.To be avoided!I ... Having read many true crime books this is up there as one of the best.

A detectives fight to bring two bent and murderous cops to justice who were thought to be heros within the police department but the real truth was far it.

It is slow in places but stick with it as the tale that unfolds is straight out of the movies.

This book was one of the best i have ever read. It was extremely informative and enjoyable to read ,towards the end i could almost undersatnd what it was to be a wiseguy. I could really relate to Henry Hills thoughts ecspecially at the end .This is a definate must read for a lover of crime stories or just a lover of books!!!! Truly excellent .I cant say enough and i was rather sad when i finishesd it .

The book was good, well researched. Kenny noye the story should be made into a film. As much as he was evil, he was also one of the cleverest, respected criminals there has been, especially when it came to making money. But main question, why on earth did he murder Stephen Cameron ? what did it achieve? here was a man who was rich, repected, women adored him, decent family and killed a guy over a stupid argument after being cut up on the road! Then gets life in prison for his troubles.
