In many Turkish cookery books i cannot obtain the ingredients in the uk in order to carry out the recipe but I found few receipes in this book where this occured.Full colour photographs of the dishes , a nicely laid out book which I hope most of you will enjoy reading and using as much as I have.

I have found this book to be a constant source of inspiration for my attempts liven up the boring bolognese and have used the spicy prawns with pasta on numerous occasions to great effect.

Many of the recipes do, however, require a little more than rudimentary cooking skill, a well stocked cupboard and often a little detective work to track down an obscure ingredient or a suitable alternative. The results of perseverance are worthwhile though.

No doubt recipes are good. Just what it says is different than how dishes would be cooked in Italy. It is full of exotic recipes aimed to cheat the customer already kidnapped by supermarkets, glossy magazines, celeb chefs, entarteinment tv program pretending to be cooking program. At the same time many, perhaps most, of the basic italian recipes are simply absent.

Buy it if you know nothing about italian food, are happy to continue to know nothing, and want good recipes (not italian, but good).
If you look for italian food look elsewhere.

I really like Ursula Ferrigno's style of cooking, and was really looking forward to this book after reading 'Truly Italian'. The recipes in this book look great, but there are a couple of typos (which are annoying but not that big a deal) and missing steps in some recipes (I've noticed two recipes so far where there are clearly some instructions missing). It should be said that you'll probably be able to overcome any mistakes and produce great food just as the recipe intended by using your intuition, but its disappointing that the book went into production in what feels like a half proof-read state.

The grilled pizzas are great(once you get the technique learned)! Also, try Rosemary Chicken, "Georges Pasta"(great as written in the book or made with ground turkey and without butter as a low fat daily meal),Pasta with lentils and prosciutto,or Delmonico steaks with home made catsup.
