This is another one of those diets that will lead to weight loss if you stick to it for a whole 7 days - and then as you'll put it all back on again and be back to sqaure one as soon as you go back to your normal way of life or when you end up eating all the foods you spent the 7 days thinking about!! Alison Weir is a respected historian who is often recommended as an antidote to inaccurate representations in historical fiction as written by other authors. This is her first novel, and what a novel it is. I was entranced from the first line, and even though I knew how it was going to end, I still hoped that there would be a change at some point near the end. That's the sign of a good writer - someone who can write so compellingly and with such suspense that you hope they can even change historical facts for you.

this is my first barbara erskine novel , and as soon as I read the synopsis , i felt i just had to read it... I finished it in a day ... can't put it down, the story is so engaging , feel a bit long sometimes in the middle , but it soon pick up and just hooked you till the end... I'm now excitedly browsing for more of her book...

Oh, dear. Mike Gayle's books used to be comfort reading on holidays but with The Life & Soul Of The Party, he has not done himself any favours. Where to start? The book starts off with the death of one of the characters, so this is not a spoiler but the problem is that during the book the character is not really developed. He appears to be the soulmate of his ex (who cannot let go) but during the book he behaves in a way that does not really explain as to why his ex finds it so hard to let go or why we should be sorry for his death (other than that it is obviously terrible if somebody in their thirties dies in a car accident). I am a mature student and was advised to buy this when I started my Access to HE course many years ago. I dutifully went and bought it alongside The Good Study Guide by Andrew Northedge and I have to say that this book is worth its weight in gold compared to the book by Northedge. This is not a comparison so I shall move on to say that every aspect of study - whether its organizing your time, planning backwards from deadlines, learning how you study best or even looking at personal development is covered in this excellent resource. It is designed in a user-friendly way which allows you to either read it all the way through or dip in and out of it depending on your needs.The book is designed in a clever way with charts, pictures, examples etc and it's glittered with funny ... If you are interest in Elizabeth I in any capacity, then this is the book for you. I stumbled across Alison Weir's book on Lady Jane Grey, and was transfixed, so was delighted when The Lady Elizabeth came out. The book takes you through Elizabeth's childhood, her teenage years, until the moment that she becomes queen. It is both fascinating and compelling and I would recommend it to anyone who has any interest in this period, but more importantly for bringing to life Elizabeth I's amazing and intriguing personality. A fantastic, higly recommended read!

I never write reviews but I have literally just bought this book - and never had such an amazing response from my 8 month old with any toy or book. It is really lovely, bright and colourful with fantastic fabrics and materials for baby to touch. He couldn't stop stroking it and touching the materials. Money very well spent - perfect for a baby 6 - 12 months I would think.

I had been using this book in careers class to help me decide which universities I was going to apply to, and this book was exceedingly helpful for this task.
This book gives a league table of universities and also ranks them by each subject for example, Law or History. Another important aspect of this book is that it describes the universities making it truly invaluable to any A-Level student.
However, I only gave this book four stars because the vast majority of information is available online - in the Times website and also through the universities' websites.
Overall I would say that this book is very useful and definitely needed for any student who wants to make the right choice of university - after all it is one of the most important decisions you will make!

The story was good but seemed to come to an abrupt end, maybe leading onto a follow up second book?

I get very quiet periods at work and read this in 3 days. I will buy her next book if there is one just to give her a chance to prove me wrong.
