This is one of the recommended texts for the certificate in counselling skills, which I am taking. It is very easy to read, and has some great examples, as well as bringing up some challenging issues for would be counsellors to help them to determine whether counselling would be for them. Perhaps some of the examples are a little extreme, but it does provide wonderful food for thought. Structurally, it follows and describes the person-centred approach one step at a time, and is therefore a good textbook for a course. If you are thinking about person centred counselling as a training or career option, this would be a good way to introduce yourself to the topic.

This is a great book. If you're interested in human behaviour and psychology this is a great book for you to read. The downside to the book is that he trys to use words used in psychology in the book to make it sound better. But it actually does the opposite - makes it sound worse. If you think you can get past all the words that he uses then buy it, if you don't think you can then don't.
But to round up the book is very interesting and has great concepts. I highly recommend it if you think you can get past all the words.

This book is particularly useful for those doing any teaching degree, but particularly for those who are doing the Ba ed primary teaching with QTS. This book has a range of information on giving knowledge and understanding to those who wish to find out about all the different components of teaching primary English. Such topics that are covered include spellings, early writing, shared writing of fiction and non fiction and aspects of reading, listening and speaking and grammar. This will help any teaching student in their assignments on the teaching of English to primary schools. A rather insipid tale, though Grant is a good enough writer to hold the attention, it's hard to really say what 'The Clothes on Their Backs' is really about. Maybe there's some hugely deep inner meaning that I've completely missed. Although not a lot happens and it's not particularly complex, I still felt that it never really came together to make a consistent whole.

The central character, Vivien, I found very hard to empathise with. Even when tragedy touched her life it was hard to care. It wasn't that she was unpleasant, just rather uninteresting. Vivien's timid immigrant parents and larger-than-life uncle are more vivid characters although they were just a bit too extreme and contrasting to ring true.

I thought it was time to expand my reading horizons with some classic literature without blowing my budget, so this Penguin Popular Classic at £2 seemed the ideal choice, particularly as, when I used the 'Search Inside' facility, it showed in the list of contents a preface, chronology, introduction and further reading.

When I received the book, these 42 pages were missing, and on closer inspection I see the 'Search Inside' facility shows a completely different, more expensive Penguin edition.

This seems highly misleading to me - it's disappointing that a publisher with the status of Penguin would mislead customers like this.

5 stars for the story, reduced to 3 for cheating!!

This book is a must have for all medical students entering their clinical years. Read it early! I only discovered the gems contained within this book when my OSCE's were approaching as it had been collecting dust on the shelf and I was kicking myself that I hadn't read it earlier. Plenty of pictures and illustrations to clarify the procedures.

I bought this book thinking that the other reviews may have talked it up a lot but I thought it was great! My opinion of Duncan Bannatyne has totally changed too! I never had much of an opinion on him before but now im totally inspired by his achievements! It's hard to put the book down!

I have not read any other works by the author so for me this is the first time I've met the character. The cover caught my attention, and as I enjoy detective novels and historical fiction, this looked the book for me.

The basic storyline is that our central character, a lawyer, is ordered to assist with some legal proceedings which take place during Henry VIII's progress to the north or more particularly York. The place in time is just after the great Northern Rebellion and during his marriage to the young and flakey Katherine Howard.
