I got a copy of this book in the old cover style and it has definitely been a lifesaver.

All the recipes are easy, you don't need any fancy equipment and the dishes range from incredibly cheap to something to splash out on (Like the vodka chili!!) although the majority of them will definitely not break the bank.

Although it is a student cookbook I'd recommend it to anyone as some meals are impressive enough to serve to guests, but it also has fun family meals as well. All quantities are for 2 people so easy to divide or multiply up as well. I also like the snacks and standbys section at the end which has great lunchtime recipes.

This was an easy read and held my attention long enough that it became a very fast one, too. I read, more or less, everything and anything, but The Lovely Bones wasn't one I was itching to read and probably wouldn't have been read at all if it hadn't been for all the hype and a bargain carboot buy. (Incidentally, you can tell which books are the result of media hype because of what you find at our local carboot. In my town, there is no book shop, but almost every box of books had a book by Dan Brown, Jody Picoult or Alice Sebold in.)

The story itself was OK, in a shrug, pull-a-face sort of way. I recommended it to my Mum, who loves these sorts of grim-reality books, and said she could keep it. So make what you will of that. At least, like ... Read More:

This is a fantastic workbook, which enables one to implement Lean Six Sigma for improving any service/transactional process.
Following the DMAIC structure i was able to sucessfully make significant improvements in process lead time.
A definte for any new starter.

Brooker is currently the best-loved pop culture pundit amongst the jaded workshy internet-hogging sullen misanthrope demographic. This is an indesputable fact. He has sat aside the collective imagination of this unhappy group like a grumpy colossus since the launch of the spoof listings website TVGoHome back in what now feels like the mid-1800s, and he continues to do so with his Guardian articles and the brilliant Screenwipe show, which I'll wager most of you have seen on the Guardian website and youtube respectively rather than in actual grubby print or on actual proper telly. I have just read Henry Allingham's book which led me to reread Jimmy Corbin's ,(please read my reviews on these books), and now I have just finished rereading Harry's book.
It is very interesting to hear how their lives panned out and when you consider how differently these three mens lives are it beggars belief to even contemplate the lives of every other fighter from ww1 and 2. One thing I know is that every last one of them would have a story worth reading though.
I would distrust anyone who considers this book to be worthy of less than 5 stars as this man like so many others did his duty so we were able to keep our freedom. These boys were fighting for more than their own lives as some reviewers seem to forget.

As a big fan of Pat Barker's previous work - especially the excellent Regeneration trilogy - I too was attracted to this book because of the return to the ground of former glories. So it was with keen anticipation that I bought it.

What a disappointment. The book completely failed to engage in the manner of Regeneration, which had me hooked from page 1, line 1.
The overriding emotion at the end of this was "So what?"
The examination of the relevance of art in wartime was unsatisfying and skin deep - my impression was that Barker does not know enough about the subject to get properly to grips with it. And an odd choice for one of the central themes.

My 2.5 year old got this for her 2nd birthday as our introduction to Julia Donaldson and it is a firm favourite! She loves the rhymes and the pictures, and knows it word for word! I don't get bored of reading it either, which is usually a good sign!

I persisted with this book far longer than I should have - I could have been reading something worthwhile. Ploughed through to the half way point, expecting that something interesting must happen soon (no), not at all interested in what happened to any of the dull and one dimensional characters. I eventually skipped to the end to see what happened, which was what I was expecting. Saved myself a few hours and can now move onto something I might actually enjoy. Disappointing.
