Alan Moore is a creative genius. Yes, he does the superhero thing with Watchmen and his DC and Marvel forays, but this is a whole new spin on it! This graphic novel will make you want to re-read all those classics gathering dust on your shelves, because all of the major characters are torn from Victorian masterpieces. Allan Quartemain, Captain Nemo, The Invisible Man, Mina Murray (formerly Harker), Dr Jekyll and of course Mr Hyde are summoned to form the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. When it first came out this book, based totally on research (unlike most management books), overturned many accepted business myths but the twelve key factors of really successful managers were difficult to adopt. I recommend the subsequent book "12" which provides case histories and practical tips on these 12 concepts.

I only got this today, and having read about a third of the story, I can safely say that it is seriously good. Okay, so it's the first graphic novel I've ever read, but it does really make me want to buy more.

The story is very dark, and the inmates of the asylum (especially the Joker) are pretty damn scary. Although a bit confusing at first, the artwork is brilliant, although I'm still finding it hard to read what the Joker is saying in some panels.

Overall, really good. I would definitely recommend it.

Firstly don't let the humour comments put you off - it' not that bad. What the book does for digital photographers is tell you how to post process for great results and how to do some neat effects; what it doesn't do is explain why or what some of the steps are for. If you are creative or want to understand the workings of CS3 then look elsewhere. I got the CS3 Bible as well (which does the opposite - give the how and why but not much about what you can achieve) and between the two I got what I needed.

The book is nicely illustrated and all the steps to get the effects are clear and easy to follow.

'Absolutely brilliant the whole family was laughing' - even Grandma! - Will aged 6

Both my boys loved this and it was a really fun read for mum, dad and grandma - bedtime reading can sometimes feel a chore for parents when you are tired but we all wanted to know what happened next! Very funny - we had to buy the next 3 in the series and my boys can't wait under the next book is written. We also have the audio CD!
Both are not keen at reading but they wanted to take turns reading it. My six year old has read it to me twice!

I bought this book on a whim and have just completed my fifth cake and am in the process of devising my sixth cake - the pictures and instructions are brilliant, I had never iced a cake before and now feel competent enough to make them for people other than family! Would highly recommend this, and looking at other peoples reviews am going to buy book 2! Well worth it.

This concise book is a real breath of fresh air in presentation design. Stripping the art of presenting back to basics, Garr Reynolds advocates a clean and simple form of presentation that he argues strengthens a presentation's quality.

I'd certainly agree and the book is beatifully illustrated with examples of this crisp and clean design style. I used the book as inspiration for a series of presentations (both for myself and my graphic design team) and the resulting presentations were a massive improvement on previous work and very well received.

If you like long lists of bullet points, don't buy this boo. If you like clean and elegant work, get a copy now!
