.Beginner's Italian (Teach Yourself) City Travel Guides > Books > Phrase Books by: Vittoria Bowles April 02, 1992 This book is excellent if you wish to learn turist level italian. The book is well organised. Each chapter is organised in few parts:key words and phrases, where words and common phrases are explained, dialogues, where you can first listen( if you have the tape) and then read autentic dialogues, then explanations of grammar, and phrases which are used in communication and at the end practice , where you can excersise what you have learned. You don't have a pronounciation guide with every lecture , you only have it at start, so it can be a bit difficult in the begining. But here is a tip. Write it on a piece of paper and use it as a bookmark.I thought the grammar would be more complex and this is a part of dissapointment, as you only learn present ... .Fast and Easy Polish (Living Language Series) City Travel Guides > Books > Phrase Books from: Crown Publications January 01, 1999 I found this pamphlet/cassette guide to speaking rudimentary Polish very useful - because of the cassette. It was invaluable to hear people actually speaking the language, and be able to copy their pronounciation, accent, and stresses, rather than trying to decipher it based on phonetic symbols and pronunciation guides and invariably getting something wrong. The pamphlet came in handy afterwards - once I knew what a specific combination of letters really sounded like in Polish, it was easier to read the language.
