.Taking Italian Further (Hugo) City Travel Guides > Books > Phrase Books by: Milena Reynolds November 12, 1998 This claims to be the follow up book to 'Italian in 3 months' by the same author and published by Hugo. I have diligently read and studied this previous book, with the help of the cassettes and also done a beginners course at night class. Having got half way through the first chapter of 'Advanced Italian' I have found that many of the words used in the passages I have not encountered before. True, there is a list of some of the new words given, but less than half of the ones new to me (and presumably someone who has done the previous book), and the lists include words which were in the previous book. The choice of passages is dubious, for example a description of architecture in Vicenza which uses arty farty language , never likely ... .Italian All-Audio Course (Living Language Series) City Travel Guides > Books > Phrase Books by: Lisa Ferrante October 01, 1997 What I like about this is that it presents materials and then prompts in English for the learner to translate to the target language. The quality of sounds is good enough to listen to on a treadmill while jogging. The quality of sounds is good enough to listen to on a treadmill while jogging. .Italian with Michel Thomas: 2 Hour Course (Cassette) (Michel Thomas Series) City Travel Guides > Books > Phrase Books by: Michel Thomas May 01, 2000 Languages were never my thing because they always seemed difficult, but this method was great and I couldn't wait to switch on the cassette. There are 2 students who work with Michel on the tape and he explains words to them and they repeat them, he gradually builds up a small vocabularly all the time testing the students by asking them in English to say a sentence or a few words containing the words that have been taught. At this stage you have to switch off the cassette and construct the sentence yourself in Spanish before hearing what the students say. The correct pronounciation is always emphasised and stressed.
