For anyone planning a visit to Rome, or just interested in the Vatican and its history, this is a 'must read'. Rome guide books can be so overwhelming with their never-ending dates and facts and 'dry as dust' history, but here you get all the interesting bits gathered together in shortish chapters and chatty, very readable style. A great read and you come away really having learned something about the Vatican and it's fascinating (if often rather odd!) history and traditions!

An excellent guide to Rome for those on a weekend break. The top 25 sights guide is an excellent way of cherry picking the delights of the city.

We chose this book for our week-long holiday in Rome a few years ago because it said on the front "What to see and do if you can't stay long". Right from the beginning we found it both interesting and helpful. We used the "Lodging" chapter to choose our hotel and because it was divided into geographical areas we were able to choose one within walking distance of the station. The price indicators for Lodging and Dining are very useful (and accurate) too, particularly if like us you are on a tight budget and still want to enjoy your stay.
When we arrived in Rome we were glad to have the "Essential Information" chapter to help with which train to catch from the airport, and how to buy a travel ticket for the whole week. All the sections ... Read More:
