Beautiful illustrations and cut-away diagrams are the hallmarks of this excellent series of books; this Guide is no exception and is useful for planning a visit and working out what to see and do in different areas of Rome. It also has an excellent section on the Sistene Chapel ceiling and wall frescoes, very useful when your are craning your neck whilst being jostled by a thousand other sight see-ers. City Travel Guides > Books > Rome

I bought this book hoping that it would give me all the things it promises on its cover. I was very disappointed with what it actually had to offer. The hotel listings are very poor in number and choice and only show one type of accommodation, which is the standard hotel. There are so many more options in Italy such as b&bs, castels, villas, farmhouses etc. It would be nice to have a good selection of each. Also it only seemed to be concentrating on the major cities leaving out a whole range of places located in the lovely Tuscan and Umbrian countryside. I also found that the information given was not always reliable. In fact one hotel we stayed in in Rome turned out to be very different from the discription given in the book. As for the restaurants ... Read More:
