Only buy this map if you're the sort of person who likes suprises, or working out difficult and challenging puzzles. The sort of word I would use to describe this map is not printable! We used it to drive down to visit friends in the Ardeche (we took our time - 4 days, and 3 days back by a different route): Great holiday, rubbish map. How they have the gall to sell it as 'up to date' (or 'detailed') I do not know - MOST of the road numbers are WRONG, there are motorways where none are marked on the map, and roads on the map that no longer exist. clearly they bought the rights to some very out of date map dirt cheap, put their name on it, and sell it to us are five times the price. I carried both this Rough Guide and the Footprint guide with me on a recent trip to Peru. In comparison, I found that the Rough Guide contained lots of annoying small editorial errors, e.g. a map printed the wrong way up, and was also often factually a bit out of date. However, the descriptions of the sights are covered in much more detail, as is the background info to Peru. It seems to me that the Rough Guide editors have done their homework on Peru, but perhaps not so much "fieldwork", meaning they don't seem to have checked the facts on the ground very thoroughly.

In the end I found it useful to have both guides: the Footprint for accurate travel info and the Rough Guide for more detailed descriptions of the sights.

This is quite simply the best guide to Budapest you can get, though as always it is in need of updating.
I've just come back from a short break in Budapest and thus book was my constant companion. I found it helpful and easy to follow. The descriptions of the sights and attractions are well-written and informative. There was nothing to criticise in the content, except that Budapest is a more expensive place than it was when this edition was published, with most galleries that are described as free now charging a substantial entrance price.

This book is great for all round use.
However, i would not reccomend itfor anyone
going trekking. there are many other booksspecifically
aimed at trekking which have much more detail than thisone.
But they will not tell you about any other part of thecountry
outside of Khumbu or the Annapurna's

Good detail useful tips on restaurants, travel
language,nightlife and places to see.
It really helped to maximise what you can do
and see on short break
I have used rough guides in Brussels,
Rome and France.
I highly recommend them!

bought my book from the book depository book excellent BUT in very poor condition top of the book was damaged and the last 300+ pages stuck together so spoils the look of the book.

We bought or borrowed various guidebooks to bring to Iceland but this was the one we used most as we travelled around the country.

It has a nice mix of practical details and interesting background. The maps are clear and the descriptions of places are accurate. The "highlights" at the start of each chapter are well chosen.

If you are only bringing one guidebook on your trip to Iceland, this is the one to have.
