This is a very useful guide book. Whilst not as detailed as some guide books, all essential information is there and the illustrations are both attractive and informative. I have not spotted any factual errors (at least so far), although information can and does change. I am a Scot and have bought a copy of this book for non-Scottish friends planning a holiday in Scotland. It would also make a good souvenir of a Scottish holiday.

I have just finished reading 'Soil and Soul' and would recommend it to anyone who is campaigning, or wishing to campaign for justice in their world. Equally I would recommend it to anyone who is totally uninterested in such matters, especially those who work for corporations and believe in the capitalist ideology. Alistair writes superbly with a rare depth and humanity that cannot fail to touch your soul and have you looking at the soil beneath your feet with a fresh sense of reverence and humanity.

This is an OK book to read on holiday - broken into a series of short chapters it's easy to pick up and put down after reading a few sides. In terms of content it's pretty superficial stuff. The 'insight' into criminal activity doesn't come until well over half way through, and if you are looking for a bit more depth there is better biographical material available e.g. Wensley Clarkson on Kenneth Noye and all the others. The picture you get of the Met. and police in general is not flattering and just confirms most people's opinion that this bunch of dinosaurs has been getting away with it without proper scrutiny for ever. Good read, lots of interesting facts and pictures. A must for any Rangers fan.

First 2 reviews have been sensible, just wait until our 'friendly neighbours' across the city start to leave reviews. It will be obvious and I would advise anybody looking to buy this book to ignore the childish comments.
