I'm doing an M.Sc. in Operational Research by distance learning. I didn't have much of a clue about how to go about organising the research for my dissertation, and this book (out of all that I've bought) has been the best, providing a clear workflow from start to finish. Some really helpful references too.

this book was recommended to me by my Criminology module tutor on my law degree course. I have found it helpful, and there is much detail, yet at the same time it is readable. Probably the most helpful textbook on Criminology for degree level that you will find.

I really have a problem with author's who can't see past the tip of their nose, Pete Saunders I believe *can.* A lot of material is very clearly covered - gaining insight bilaterally into the potential of 'counselling' as a career or 'helper.' *Very* good explanations and comparisons of varying psycho-analytic methods.

Oh I so resent Freud for being so stuffy....(Tho there are 'glory moments' in Pete Saunders book, I suppose he's allowed...) ;o)
Very good on the whole, easy to read, thorough explanations and guidance in MANY areas.

i have just completed my nvq level 3 with the help of this book, it is brilliant and helped me with evrything i needed to know and is insightful into the world of childrens care and help me understand it more easily. the book is broken down into the core mandotory units you are required to coomplete and optional units. it is like the bible if you are doin the course and is well worth having.

Even though it was valuable for me to learn what is really going on, I read this book with a mixture of revulsion and horror. I was certainly shocked to learn about the tripartite economic recipe - privatisation, deregulation, and cutbacks in social welfare spending - repeatedly used around the world by a so-called democracy via highly non-democratic means.

In the early years, the primary shock vehicle was dictatorial military force and accompanying fear of - and actual mass use of - arrest, torture, disappearance, or death. In this lovely, useful book, Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein examine choices, biases and the limits of human reasoning from a variety of perspectives. They often amuse by disclosing how they have fallen victim to the limitations of thought that they are describing. The fact that these educated, articulate professionals can fool themselves so often demonstrates how tough it is to think clearly, a point the authors emphasize and even repeat. Humans fall prey to systematic errors of judgment, but you can harness this problematic tendency productively, including by helping others make better decisions.
