I have waited over four weeks for this book to come through, and what can i say, definately well worth the wait, it is quite simply a beautifully book, accompanied by maps and wonderfull engravings, they have managed to get the four volume hakluyt edition very very nicely into one volume, you can almost smell the sea salt

The author, a middle-aged American, drives round the world in a purpose-built car with his much younger girlfriend (later wife), accompanied by a two-man support team in a second vehicle. They drive 152,000 miles through 116 countries over a period of three years - an impressive feat by anyone's standards. At first I found it difficult to like Mr Rogers. Every new country prompted a vaguely patronising economics lecture from the author, followed by musings over whether or not he might invest financially in the country concerned. This established a pattern that quickly became tedious.

This is the third book of this kind by the wonderful "Disney" Author Jason Surell & the difference here is that whilst his first two offerings focused on only a single attraction (and movie) this one features a whole number of classic Disney Attractions. It's this reason that I've only awarded this 4 Stars and not 5, more to follow on this shortly.

First up, Surrell is perfect for this kind of job. He's been involved with a host of Disney Experiences working for Walt Disney Entertainment but it's easy to tell that underneath his day job he appears to be just like millions of other fans of the Disney Theme Parks.

This was an enjoyable book to read. It's a book that just goes to show how many truly interesting people there are out there on the internet. It's often a book about unbelievable coincidences and how taking a chance can take you all over the Globe. It's also a book about one man's attempt to avoid working, something I can sympathise with!

The pace of the book is good, particularly towards the end where the chapters are often only 2-3 pages long and it becomes a parade of entertaining, unusual and genuinely intriguing people. And it's definitely the people that make this book enjoyable and entertaining, rather than Gorman's need to complete this book. If anything, his constant attempts to engage our sympathy are a down point, if only a minor one.
