compared to other mountaineering books i have read, this is much simpler and more embracing. as you follow Simon Yates on his travels around the world, you will be embraced by the culture and beauty of every place, with each page making you want more. a great book!

Most disappointing. Very little information for the tourist. Maps terrible. Very few refreshment establishments mentioned for each area. Sorry, this is the worst guide book I have ever bought.

Dark Moon:Apollo and the Whistle-Blowers sets it's self out to be a serious book that says the Apollo Lunar Modules did not land on the moon. However, this book is full of so many mistakes, down right wrong it is not hard to find this book funny.

If you know anything about Apollo and want a good comic book then this is for you!

The book is very much how the author did it, that his way is best and that there is no sea room for anybody else. As I do not have a small cruiser and have never sailed on the Thames estuary this can be very annoying (a better map would help explain where Shoal Waters has been and how it had got there). The author did grow on me as the book progressed but the start was slow.

However with years of experience he has imparted hundred of handy tips some of which I know I will try and routes that I suspect have not been sailed in years!

I would recommend this to a friend but only if they will be sailing these waters and with a small boat.

This is an excellent book if you like art deco and googie (and more modern era) architecture with lots of character - lots of neon, great signage, drive-ins etc. MOst of the photos are long exposure shots at night and are very colourful and detailed. Not quite 5 star as a few photos are a bit grainy, but they are all interesting. Very good value price too.
