Most disappointing. Very little information for the tourist. Maps terrible. Very few refreshment establishments mentioned for each area. Sorry, this is the worst guide book I have ever bought.

compared to other mountaineering books i have read, this is much simpler and more embracing. as you follow Simon Yates on his travels around the world, you will be embraced by the culture and beauty of every place, with each page making you want more. a great book!

CASTLES IN THE AIR was sitting on my bookshelf for a while before I got around to reading it - usually I am a faction girl, so this piece of non-fiction was a slight detour from my usual escapism. However, once started, I was hooked. Admittedly, the picture on the cover first drew me in, with its romance and fairytale quality - what I found when I began the book was that the picture on the cover had done the story justice.

It would be pretty vain for anyone to try and "review" and pass judgement on this book. The level of erudition is staggering and every page is packed full of fascinating anecdote, character and information. Burton was an intellectual giant whose learning and adventurous spirit puts us all to shame.

I was half expecting this book to be completely US orientated full of full-dressed Harleys so I bought a second-hand copy. I was pleasantly surprised because, even though the author dwells on travel in the US, there is more than enough good and relevant information for a European traveller. I found myself agreeing with a lot of the advice (I ride a KTM 990 Adventure not a uber-tourer) and can recommend the book to both new and seasoned tourers (but buy a second-hand copy because the list price is a bit steep).

I've recommended this guide to all my friends. A really thorough guide to having a family holiday in Normandy. Everything in it is considered from a family's perspective - eg. which attractions are best for older kids, which beaches are safe etc... this book really took the headaches out of this year's holiday. This book was just what I was looking for - an easy-to-read guide to buying in Morocco that has plenty of facts and stats too. It has detailed region and city guides, going beyond the usual major resorts, plus chapters on culture shock, property types, living and working, useful phrases, handy websites and loads more.

There's plenty of information on investing, holiday homes and buying to live in the country - the part I'm interested in - and it covered all of the issues I'd thought of, as well as bringing to my attention plenty that I hadn't even considered.

As Morocco is considered to be the next Dubai, there's a surprising lack of books out there on the property market. I've already read Abby Aron's 'Buying a Property in Morocco', ... Read More:
