my two sons aged 3 and a half and aged 15 months both sit in awe of this book! there is a traditional feel with the mummy making this fantasic tea which she is happy to share with this stranger at the door - a tiger! then there is the crazy element that you would let a tiger into your house - the tiger never roars at all and amazingly my very vocal boys never roar when they see him in this book as he is a friendly tiger.
this book is simply great, a must have for parents and children.

be aware that some of recipes have a lot of added sugar. Not good if you're on any kind of diet!

I could not put this book down. It was beautifully written with compassion and in fact, drove me to book a holiday in Crete to visit the island myself which was everything I thought it would be.

I recommend this book only if you have time to spare to read til the end. Compelling, tragic and wonderfully written. I have lent this book to members of my family who all feel the same way. I understand people have compared it to John Tayman's book Under my Skin, but this was written beautifully even though it may not contain lots of hard hitting medical facts.

Whether through its shortness of length or through the familiarity with typical Paul Auster subject matter, there seems to be a tendency in other reviews here so far to underestimate the true worth of the author's latest novel. Man in the Dark may indeed appear short and simple on the surface, but the importance of its subject matter and the emotional depth it covers is nonetheless remarkable.

Through August Brill, the man in the dark, Auster tries to make sense of the world through the medium of the writer spinning ideas in his head. My friend bought me this book because she knew I was a great fan of Dragons Den and she had seen me consume a fair few bottles of Reggae Reggae Sauce since it hit the shelves.

Firstly I took a flick through the book and read Levi's amazing life story which really helps to give you an idea of the Jamaican culture behind the food. And then I threw myself right in because I was inspired by the food on offer. I prepared a meal for my housemates which they loved. The next day I baked a Jamaican Ginger Cake because I really like the cake you can buy - Levi's recipe is a lot better!

Do yourself a favour and put some music in your food! I hope I can gather some friends together and prepare some Jamaican dishes and drinks for them all to enjoy. Even better, ... Read More:

Don't buy this book uness you're sure you like Gordon's style. As with most fast food stuff, it doesn't present a realistic timescale which can cover everything you need to put into a meal. I don't usually eat my carbo stuff separately from the rest, but find eg spuds are presented as a separate recipe. Most of the recipes need contstant attention to the main ingredients to get quick timing. Unless you're going for size 0 this is normal length cookery.
