This handy size guide book has just about the right amount and type of information. The front & back covers open out into maps and street plans which are useful but the island map is split into 2 sections which is a bit of a pest.
All in all worth every penny.

Useful guide with up-to-date information. Not as complete as a normal Rough Guide, but Tenerife is not big and it costs a lot less than a full guide too. A good buy.

A great map and very handy as the tourist maps available in Tenerife are hardly detailed. I did find a couple of errors in road numbers though, so use with common sense in the mountain regions.

Got the map because it cost next to nothing with another book and I was intending to go to Tenerife for carnival again. Unfortunately I didn't get there so haven't had a chance to use the map. It looks great and takes up no room so buy one anyway. I can imagine it might be a bit of a handfull when opening and closing in confined spaces, but I guess this is when you start communicating with the local community as you pass corners of the map to them to hold and start getting chatty! On a serious note it looks efficient and useful.

I bought this and used it as a back-up / cross reference with "Tenerife: the finest valley and mountain walks" (Klaus & Annette Wolfsperger), which is not its natural companion (but worked fine). It's accurate and up-to-date and at a lot more detailed scale than the maps in the Tenerife book, which helped me realise quicker when I was off trail (completely different to being lost!). I don't know if I'd call it 'super durable' but it did the job, is still in reasonable condition, although a plastic wallet would be nice. Oh, and it's easy to fold up - not like some crazy maps! It would be nice if the interior (of Tenerife) section included the ascent of Teide. Fortunately, we found the trail to Teide very easy to follow, but in poor weather ... Read More:

Sometimes I despair! Why did the above reviewer bother to purchase this excellent book and then retain the cliched, innaccurate and tired old tabloid attitudes towards Tenerife. The south is not a building site, yes there is some building although a lot less nowadays. I doubt if you could find any town of the size of PDLA that didn't have some construction going on. It is fast becoming an excellent resort with many upmarket hotels and restaurants. And there are many beautiful beaches in the south of the island. If the reviewer bought this book with the intention of finding the real Tenerife, they obviously wasted their money. I agree to a large extent with the previous reviewer, this is a useful but far from flawless guide. On the positive side, it is well written and easy to follow with good maps and points of interest mentioned along the way. On the negative side, there are far too many short walks and some that in my opinion barely qualify as a walk. Often, an obvious longer route is 'chopped up' into two or three sections and described as a number of shorter walks.
I also agree with the previous comment regarding the mapping. It would be really useful to include the paths that coincide with the described routes so that those wanting a longer trip could extend the route to suit.

Having been smitten by the smaller nearby island of La Gomera, it didn't take much to convince me to visit its big brother of Tenerife. And once you get out of the tourist resorts the variety of landscapes available to walk through is stunning. It is amazing to be walking through pines and freezing mist one minute and blazing sunshine and cacti the next.

I moved base twice during my visit and so was able to try out some of the described walks in the Anaga peninsula, the Orotava valley and around El Teide and in general I was very happy with them.
