Good information on various restaurants & bars.
Nightclub information was very sparse as out the 3 shown;1 has now closed, & the other two were not actually night clubs, but instead chillout bars. There are however, many nightclubs in Madrid.
Factual information is very good with a superb historic introduction to the city & its Rulers.

Hmm, mixed opinions from other reviewers. Well, I've used more than a dozen Time Out guides and would say this is one of the best.

Visiting Hong Kong for the first time I held a set of images of the city, cliches which this guide actively seeks to challenge. Like most Time Out guides this book combines the usual useful information for orientation, public transport, sightseeing, accommodation, even recommended itineraries; and a comprehensive, thoughtful primer on the history of the ex-colony, life today and specific aspects of the city such as architecture and profiles of significant HK residents.

I took this book as my guide for my first trip to Paris in June 2006.

A handy (handbag) sized book with plenty of information and plenty of colour pictures. The street and metro maps are indispensible. Top tips guided us to excellent restaurants.

Minor criticisms - which would be common to all such publications - cannot be comprehensive due to size limitations, and despite being a new annual edition, some details such as prices are already out of date.

This guide to New York is without question one of the best out there. In true Timeout style, there is no sugarcoating or waffling in sight. What you get from this is a guide that finds out what is the best of the best and doesn't bother with the information you don't need. The book itself is divided into the different New York neighbour hoods with comprehensive and up to date info on each. What is also interesting is the amount of information you get on the more social aspect of the city. When people think of New York you think, Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, which are great, but to capture the true essence of the city you need to dig a little deeper and this is what the people at timeout are trying to do in the guide. I never travel to a city without a a timeout guide, they are always spot on and I have never been diappointed in them...until this one. Even though the book is 2 years old, the prices were way wrong. Not off by even half, but sometimes prices were 5-6 times what was printed in the book. Also restaurent recomendations were very bad. some places were written as "local hang out fo traditional food" but it was overpriced, bad quality food that had little to do with anything you might expect. It is understanable that things change and gets more expensive, but we hardly found any tips in this book. I still love time guides, but give this one a skip

While studying in Edinburgh last year, I went to Venice for a week with a friend of mine last March. Armed with both the Lonely Planet Venice and Time Out: Venice guidebooks, we found the Time Out book to be wonderfully helpful. One of the best things about it was that it included (at least, last year's version did) a map of all the public toilets in Venice, which, let me tell you, is a very good thing. The book itself was informative, interesting, and well-written, the advice given was very sound, and, though accurate maps of Venice are notoriously hard to find, those in the Time Out guide were much more helpful than those in the Lonely Planet. Just back from a trip to B Aires where I had available the Footprint guide for Argentina, the Wallpaper guide and the Time Out guide. The Time Out guide proved to be easily the best. The Wallpaper is extremely superficial, but great if you are into design and all things 'trendy'. The Footprint was extremely disappointing. I have used them for S America before, but found the one for Argentina out of date and old fashioned. If you are young (or young at heart), go for the Time Out guide.

This book really does contain everything you need to know about Las Vegas. It gives an honest, critical appraisal of pretty much every aspect of the city, and while it plays to Vegas' strengths, you'll also see that it's not all roses. This is particularly evident in the architecture section and when talking about transport and certain areas between Downtown and the Strip. A must have book for anyone visiting Vegas, or who just wants a good look at what its like warts and all.

This book really does contain everything you need to know about Las Vegas. It gives an honest, critical appraisal of pretty much every aspect of the city, and while it plays to Vegas' strengths, you'll also see that it's not all roses.
