I can't give this book enough praise. As someone who has lived in Stockholm for 3 years but is too busy to see the sights, it was incredibly helpful to me while recently entertaining friends and family that came to visit this February. Winter in Sweden is always difficult, but this book had so many suggestions that we didn't have enough time to see everything! The sightseeing and restaurant sections are particularly good. Even my Swedish husband agrees that the restaurants chosen are actually ones that Swedes enjoy and there were also several wonderful places in the book that he had never heard of (we have tried several and have not been disappointed)! Having spent a day in Florence with my mother using Lonely Planet and my dad using Rick Steeves - it was a nightmare! Restaurant recommendations were touristy or rubbish and it was hard to get around. I went and bought Time Out Florence from a bookshop near our hotel because of previous good experiences with Time Out Rome. The recommendations were spot on, and were equally good for a side trip to Pisa (botanical gardens were lovely and the chocolate shop and gelateria recommended on the river were fantastic). I highly recommend this book and encourage you to try as many recommended gelateria as possible - the three we tried were amazing.

This is an excellent book if you need a guide to Brussels, but the reference to Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges in the title is rather misleading. All three places are in a section of the book called "Trips out of town", and are not covered in any great detail. The first 200-ish pages of the book cover Brussells, but the section on Antwerp covers 20 pages, while Bruges and Ghent get only 13 pages each.

If it is Bruges you are looking to visit, then you would probably be wise to look for a different guidebook.

I had in my possession a copy of the Rough Guide which was brilliant. Every restaurant it recommended was outstanding and every place was a treasure. But then I lost it. This Time Out book tempted me away. That was such a mistake. I cannot fault it's guides on all other subjects, but the restaurant guides were seriously misguided. Places they said were great were nothing short of average. It really let me down on what should have been a very special weekend away.
It could also learn from the Rough Guide's free pull out map which was very handy indeed.

However, wherever there's a cross reference to elsewhere in the book (ie. frequently), the pagination is wrong. It seems the copy has been lifted from another format - the original Time Out Berlin, no doubt - complete with cross-references, without proper re-editing. Shoddy, lazy and irritating, if you ask me.
