This was my first trip to Prague and to be honest, I knew very little of the history of the city or the country. This compact and consise book was informative as well as being a really quite humerous read. A relevent, interesting (and wonderfully brief!) history provides backround to the incredible sites of Prague. This guide got a group of lazy stduents aound all of Prague, provided ideas for some highly cultural... and some not so cultural activities whilst being an entertaining read on the way - highly recommended.

This book has been produced without due editorial care and attention - the index is arbitrary and incomplete, and I found many incorrect cross-references. A factual inaccuracy: Arnold Schoenberg's grave in the Zentralfriedhof is not in section 33C, but in 32C. Nor is it organised in a way that makes it particularly easy to use; in my view, the principle of organisation used in Michelin Guides is superior.

If you have used Time Out magazines in the past, you will already have a very good idea of what this book offers. If you are looking for a night/day out it will provide superb in depth, culturally savvy coverage of the many choices the city has to offer. Because of this guide, I enjoyed fabulous meals, theatre and jazz nights.

Unfortunately, "the travel guide" is almost bolted on to the regular Time Out format and is much weaker. Information about transportation and finding your way around is poor, as is detail regarding "touristy" activities and sites, especially those out in the suburbs. A good guide but I cannot agree that the origins of the prevalence of homosexuality in San Francisco is a result of the predominance of males and a shortage of females from the Gold Rush of 1849. I found the instru ctin to park on the left of the road if there is a division of traffic somewhat confusing. In general, more tips on traffic rules would be a help for
visitors from the UK.
