A good guide but I cannot agree that the origins of the prevalence of homosexuality in San Francisco is a result of the predominance of males and a shortage of females from the Gold Rush of 1849. I found the instru ctin to park on the left of the road if there is a division of traffic somewhat confusing. In general, more tips on traffic rules would be a help for
visitors from the UK.

The entry for Cannes is very disappointing in terms of restaurants. The food and the service in la Liberia is at best indifferent and it is definitely not worth a visit; for an excellent (if slightly pricey Italian) visit the exceptionally busy Vesuvio on La Croisette, near the Martinez. Unaccountably, no mention is made of Gastoun Gastounette, one of the best restaurants in the town, despite the fact that it is virtually next door to the La Pizza, which is mentioned, in quai St-Pierre. The entry for Le 72 Croisette is grossly exaggerated: there is no need to battle through any hordes - it is at least half empty most of the time and you would find it difficult to see anyone going into the Martinez as you would need X-ray vision to see through ... A very disapointing guide to this great city. Most fundamentally, it is impossible to match the addresses listed for attractions with the extraordinarily useless map at the back of the book. Furthermore, the highly recommended restaurants and bars we visited bore no relation whatsoever to the descriptions in the book. Almost ruined our weekend, but not quite.

A great guide to making the most of one's stay in Beijing. Although it contains enough information regarding the city in general to ensure you are able to survive, it should not be relied upon as your only source of information if you intend moving between cities or spending much time outside of the center of the city.

Restaurant, bar and attraction listings are great. Hotel listings could be better as they don't cover very many places. I ended up making use of the restaurant and bar guides a lot and all the places were superb.

The way the map and indexes are arranged make for very simple use - especially when you're looking to head to, or find yourself in, a certain area but are unsure what is located there.
