. Leisure and Tourism Landscapes: Social and Cultural Geographies (Routledge Advances in Tourism)
City Travel Guides > Books > Tourism and Leisure Studies
by: Cara Aitchison, Nicola E Macleod, Stephen J. Shaw
October 18, 2001
A seminal work and a fascinating read. The tone is less "soap-box" academic than simply "share our interest" informative, and despite the intimidating, "for post grad students only" post- modernist-perspective lables, it's a down-to earth analysis and assessment on our landscapes and leisure spaces today. It really makes you think about how we use, and perceive, our space and the land around us. A great read, one really feels the authors put their heart into the work. Highly recommended, even from this readers Asian perspective. This is not a book only for leisure and tourism students/academics, but for anyone really interested in their environs and their relationship to leisure. TOP MARKS.

. Tourism Geography (Routledge Contemporary Human Geography)
City Travel Guides > Books > Tourism and Leisure Studies
by: Stephen Wynn Williams
October 01, 1998
This book is a useful aid to many geographers and indeed researchers who are interested in the spatial distribution of tourism, its trends and the direct ramifications of increases or decreases of tourism rates. The book is set out in a format that is not only desciptive but is interseting with a critique of other studies. Comparisons and case studies are the order of the day here and it is through these studies that the knowledge of the subject is portrayed in a more understanding way. Can be a bit confusing at time with the post modernistic view on certain topics but for a geography student this should not pose too much of a threat. The book would not be of much use to a tourist as it is very academically motivated and is a vital learning ... Read More:
