.Vietnam by Rail City Travel Guides > Books > Trailblazer by: Tess Read 2000-12 A useful and helpful guide to Vietnam, if your interests is in trains or the railways. The information provided are very relevant and accurate which is always a good start. I have checked some of it myself! Well, relevant as of summer 2001. I remember listening to the author on the radio (Liberty, around autumn 2000)promoting her book she sounds as though she also got to know the people and actually enjoyed the food. .Trekking in the Annapurna Region (Nepal Trekking Guide) City Travel Guides > Books > Trailblazer by: Bryn Thomas January 31, 1997 A few friends and myself did the Annapurna circuit this year, and can highly recommend trekking in this region. Currently roads are being built to Manang and Muktinath. This road building has been going on for some time and is changing the path in many areas, however it is not mentioned in the guide book, it is difficult to see how a book updated in 2005 could have missed this. In some places the route changes on a yearly basis so I do not expect the guidebook to be completely up to date and in these cases the maps in the book are an excellent way of getting your bearings, but such a major development as a road, and the impacts of the road should not have been missed. We took both this book and the Lonely Planet guide, but this was by far the more useful. It's comprehensive, an easy read, and covers everything you need. It also survives if the pages get frozen together when it's -20deg C at 5000m!
