As a vegetarian cooking for one, I use my slow cooker at the weekend and freeze the meals in individual portions. You've then got healthy convenience meals, without additives, to reheat in the microwave when you get home from work. I especially like the Moroccan-Style Quorn and Tofu Cassoulet and who'd have thought you could make cakes in a slow cooker!

This is the type of book you want to tell people about. Trotters passion for cuisine jumps out of every page. The squab terrine is worth buying this book for alone. And how many other books cover squab so well.

If you want a cook book for impressing friends when they are round to dine then this is the book.

The only problem I have with this book is that everytime I thumb through it I realise I am not at Charlie Trotters restaurant.

I don't subscribe to the raw foodist beliefs and certainly not to veganism, I follow a paleo type diet. I bought this book looking for some new vegetable dishes and because I like to eat a lot of stuff raw. First, this book is very well presented, full of mouthwatering photos that will really make you want to make the food.

The sauces are nice and the rolls are great. They have become a staple, kids love them and there is plenty of room for experimenting with fillings.

Treat this book as a source of dishes to add to other dishes, rather than of meals and it is well worthwhile

This book surpassed my expectations. I had the sweet potato and goat's cheese recipe at a friend's place and was so impressed, I immediately bought it. Every recipe has been absolutely mouthwateringly delicious!

This book is full of really authentic, well-flavoured Chinese tofu recipes. The results are up to restaurant standards, and many take only a few mins to prepare. Great for quick suppers or banquets! The recipes are really straightforward and most are suitable for vegetarians. It can be difficult to find good tofu recipes, but this book provides dozens of them - highly recommended!

I was given this book many years ago and gradually I have used its recipes more and more. The presentation is a breakdown into twelve months with recipes using what is in season during that month - or should be in season if so much produce was not flown in from Africa and further afield. Given the move toward eating produce that does not have "air miles", this book deserves more attention than it received - maybe it was a little ahead of its time. The one drawback is that most of the recipes require some preplanning and effort and are more suited to a weekend than during the week when you may have rushed home from work. That's the reason why I gave 4 stars rather than 5, but its a useful prompt to more seasonally based cooking.

I bought this book in 1986, there were very few books around then that treated nutrition as a serious subject. I read this book, and others by adelle davies, miriam polunin,etc.I changed the way my family ate. Many of my friends took heed and also modified their family's diet. my son gary mccallion died six years ago from testicular cancer,i will never get over our loss, however i am comforted by the knowledge that bad dietary habits did not contribute to his illness. Read this book and take charge of your life.

This is a brilliant book, looking at the farmers who grow and develop various organic produce. It is written in a month-to-a-chapter format, with each chapter highlighting a particular sector of the organic industry, IE bakery, dairy, meat etc. It has some excellent tips on growing your own produce and tells you what you should be doing in your garden at each point in the year. This was very interesting to read and helpful in increasing my knowledge of organic food and it's benefit in one's diet.

This book is wonderful, the recipes are easy and tasty and don't depend too heavily on soy. In fact, it takes various allergies into account. So far I have made boursin, guacamole grillers, mozzeralla, gruyere toasts and an AMAZING quiche which is indistinguishable from the real thing. It isn't cheese so don't buy it and then moan, it is uncheese which is much nicer.
