.Tort Law (Law Express) Search: Wales by: Emily Finch, Stefan Fafinski September 12, 2006 The Law express books are generally good at simplifying the law - Its true that they may be oversimple - but they are not designed as a text book and can give an interesting P.O.V in certain situations. The only problem i found with this book, and which has made me cautious about trusting it is the glaring error on page 36 and 37 with regards to the state of the law, this book was published in 2007 and yet fails to mention that in that specific area (eggshell skull rule and loss resulting from claimants impecuniosity) the law has been different since 2003!!! - i have other books from 2004 which dont miss this point! .Wales (Lonely Planet Country Guide) Search: Wales by: David Atkinson, Neal Wilson May 01, 2007 1. No accurate address and post code of sites. 2. Phone numbers of sites are without prefix, if you're not local you will never know how to call them. 3. Importent sites are missing (even when there is a review of the area, somethimes it just doesn't direct you where to go). 4. Cheap editing, the editor wanted the earn few extra pence and gathered the pictures into groups of pages. The outcome - you can read about a place and then try to find a picture somewhere in the book, if there is one (instead of having the picture next to the site description). I wouldn't mind to pay an extra pound in order to see where I'm going... Luckily, I have found few nice places online and the most importene thing - the Welsh have very good ... .Bewigged and Bewildered?: A Guide to Becoming a Barrister in England and Wales Search: Wales by: Adam Kramer May 08, 2007 This book has really helped me to get an idea about what the differences are between solicitors and barristers, the costs and process of becoming a barrister and also what Junior Barristers do on a day to day basis. There is a fasinating section of "a week in the life" stories from a variety of different diciplines which I found very helpful. Kramers book is honest with the difficulties faced in ultimately getting a tenancy but there is an underlying optimism about the profession, acknowledging the competition but stating happily that the cream will float to the top. A reassuring concept for an non oxbridge graduate like myself. Most tourists and walkers alike stick to the Northern hills which include the Carneddau,Glyders and Snowdon.The more adventurous go to the Moelwyns and possibly the occasional trip to the rough Rhinogs.You will hardly find anyone tramping in The Arans,Berwyns,Arrenigs,or the wildest parts of central wales around Plumlymon. Most of these outlying mountain ranges involve a great deal of planning ahead,there are few if any recocnisable paths especially in The Arrans.I for one have lived in Wales all my life but have yet to walk the Rhinogs let alone the Berwyns or Arrenigs,these are trully remote areas where even on a busy ... .The Art of the Advocate (Penguin Law) Search: Wales by: Richard Du Cann August 26, 1993 I would rate this as highly as Learning the Law (1970) by Glanville Williams. This should have a wide readership and is very well written. For a layman who doesnt have to learn these damned principles, you can dip in and out of it. Famous cases are reviewed from their forensic interest and a layman is intrigued to know how one gets hold of the transcripts. There will be just ten lines from a case but easily enough to whet the appetite. Palmer (the only Barts man to be hanged for murder) features, along with Crippen. Marshall Hall gets a lot of coverage - he was a famous advocate [to the non law reader]by the way, not a criminal. Should lawyers lie inn court ? .Casebook on Contract Law Search: Wales by: Jill Poole July 27, 2006 I bought this, like many, as it was on my reading list at the start of my first year. I found it fairly easy to digest and a great book to use alongside other sources, such as Westlaw. It's references are easy to find and the opening section of the book explains clearly how to use the book to its best design. .The Beat Officer's Companion 2007/2008 (Janes Police Handbooks) Search: Wales from: Jane's Information Group July 27, 2007 An invaluable source for the new probationer/student constable but may be not enough for a more hardened officer. I have found this a great toilet read as a probationer and picked up some elements of law and offences not tutored at basic training and this has helped to broaden my knowledge base. However I rushed and bought this writing my name in the cover (never trust a policeman) only to find that the 12th edition is now available with the SOCAP updates and new gambling legislation amongst other additions. AMAZON are not yet selling it but it is at www.janes.com for £25.
