. Tales of the Alhambra
Search: Washington
by: Washington Irving
April 01, 2005
I bought this book in Granada when I first visited that city four years ago, and re-read it while we were there last month. It's a nice collection of tales (mostly fairy stories) set in and around the Alhambra palace, which Irving apparently collected whilst he was living there during a respite from his diplomatic work. His evocative prose, though somewhat archaic (the book is more than a hundred and fifty years old) conjures up the magical atmosphere of that beautiful place very effectively, which makes this a perfect souvenir for anyone who's visited Granada, or an inspiration for anyone who's planning a trip there.

. Washington Square (English Library)
Search: Washington
by: Henry James
May 31, 1984
Washington Square is a compact, tightly constructed story that focuses with almost unwavering gaze upon the Sloper family, or more particularly, on Catherine Sloper, a sweet, ordinary, rather dull young lady who falls in love with a man her father is convinced loves her purely for the inheritance she stands to gain upon his death. This early novel of Henry James' alternates between biting, witty exchanges amongst the characters and introspective, sensitive exploration of the feelings and thoughts of Catherine and her father. The narrator - never named, though at times he is quite chatty towards the reader - chooses not to take sides, instead displaying the different facets of each character as they are, leaving questions of personality and intent ... by: Phillip Margolin
2008-06
Pageturner (cliché), blockbuster (cliché), fastpaced (cliché)! Right. You won't get many hours sleep once you have started this one. In my opinion, the best book Pillip Margolin has ever written.
The idea of this story almost made me catch my breath, so far-fetched did it seem, when it finally hit me what was going on. I thought I was reading a really good, although nothing out of the "ordinary really good", thriller, until I realized to which extremes the author has gone with this book.
Down through the history, Kings and Presidents have been murdered. Also, as during the French Revolution in 1789, Kings and Queens have been charged with horrible crimes and executed. The latter, however, may seem a bit different and/or difficult ... Read More:

. Kitty Goes to Washington
Search: Washington
by: Carrie Vaughn
August 03, 2006
The Second novel in Carries Supernatural series and one that now that we've been introduced properly in book one, really doesn't pull any punches as the tale unwinds. Elements that were floating round in the first novel come back to haunt this second allowing for a bigger picture as well as allowing us to explore the world further.
Idealistic, entertaining and above all a pleasurable way to burn up sometime I'd recommend that you get a bottle of your favourite drink in as you're going to have a hard time putting this novel down. Great stuff.

I don't know if I was reading the same book as "marganne45" but this is another Lucy Monroe classic.
We briefly meet Ethan in the last Mercenary Series book and his and Beth's story is a sizzling, romantic one! LM writes a good steamy love scene but that's far from what her books are about. Her primary characters are engaging and the secondary ones grab you just as much.
LM habitually throws characters in from previous or upcoming books but they can all stand alone and this is another winner!
