. Gangsters Wives
by: Lee Martin
July 05, 2007
I saw this book and decided to buy it, being a Martina Cole/Mandasue Heller fan. But I was surprised.
It was nothing like I expected it to be. From the first page, I found myself just reading, not because the plot was so scintillating i couldn't put it down, but because it was a light, easy read. Perfect for filling a few hours on a rainy day or a light read before bedtime.
It is not rocket science, it doesn't tell you how to split the atom, but its' good.
It follows the 4 gangsters wives, Poppy, Niki, Sadie and Kate. After one of the husbands is put into prison, it is basically about how his wife and her cohorts go about trying to get by when the money runs dry.
I thought that the writer kept the pace up throughout the ... Read More:

I love this author and Kaithlyn was excellent! But this one? No, very disappointed. A bit boring at times, and I found myself skim reading and skipping pages.
Very, very disappointed- wish I borrowed it from the library instead of buying it at full price.

. The Pact
by: Roberta Kray
March 29, 2007
I've now read both of Roberta Kray's books 'The Debt' and now 'The Pact'
I must give the author credit, this book is much better than her 1st.
The story line is great, something is always happening to make the plot thicken.
I did enjoy this book but i wasnt hooked. It took me a whole week to finish it. Im glade i did cos i liked it, the ending was great, writing was good etc.
Im not going to give up on this author, cos im sure her next book will be even better!

. Damaged Goods
by: Helen Black
May 14, 2008
This is by no means a "bad" novel, but is far too simplistic and shallow for this readers' tastes. The plot is mentioned elsewhere so I won't reiterate this but will focus on where I feel the novel fails.
A good crime novel needs depth of character. As another reader has mentioned, the main victim is rarely portrayed and we have no insight into her character, except as another abused statistical fact. The Lawyer, Lilly, is fairly bright and breezy but her character seems misplaced and would be more at home in a typical light-hearted women's page turner such as "Does my bum look big in this"
Likewise, the main Policeman also lacks depth of character and his building romance with Lilly is simplistic, not very credible and ... Read More:

. Fallen Angel
by: Kevin Lewis
August 07, 2008
I finished reading Fallen Angel at 2am this morning! It took me 2 days to read and i really struggled to put it down.
I am a huge fan of Kevin Lewis and have read all of his books. This storyline is completely different to anything else he's done. He really has pulled out a cracker i loved the story reminded me of Martina Cole's style of writing.
Such a great storyline, a brilliant ending well done Kevin!
I felt like i wanted to carry on reading and to my surprise after turning over the last page i realised that Fallen Angel is the 1st Novel in the DI Stacey Collins series!
I cannot wait to read the next installment how exciting!

. Every Breath You Take
by: Sheila Quigley
December 06, 2007
I have read all Sheila Quigley's books and I like the characters and setting. This book was an enjoyable enough read, but it was let down by many small errors all the way through the book. There were lots of sentences which had been broken up with commas when a semi-colon or two sentences would have worked better, and mistakes with small words, eg. "an" instead "and" and "Why" instead of "What". It's fine for the characters' speech to be written as they would say it, but the rest of the novel should be in correct English. I know this sounds really picky but these repeated errors were very off-putting. If Sheila Quigley's next book seems as rushed as this one, it will be a waste of her likeable cast of characters.

. Bad Moon Rising
by: Sheila Quigley
January 19, 2006
I picked up this book in the Airport on the way to USA and found it to be a real page turner. The author cleverly intertwines two plots together and throws in the personal life of the principal character. The only reason this fails to get 5 stars is the annoying habit the author has adopted of writing "your" as "yer". We know the action is set in Geardieland and the attempt to write in pseudodialect is unnecessary and distracting. Nevertheless I shall be looking for more from her.
