Rod Heikell's guides are seen as the definitive guides to sailing (cruising) in Greek waters.

Ports, harbours and marinas are clearly and accurately described and the diagrams are clear and easy to follow. We sailed recently in Greece and along with the Imray chart, this guide formed all the information you are likely to need.

My one complaint is that co-ordinates are not given for the ports, harbours, marinas and other points of interest such as quiet anchorages and bays. To input these into the GPS meant going back to the chart, where it would have been so much easier to be able to lift them straight from the guide. Hopefully this will be fixed in later editions. This pilot is indispensable for those wishing to sail around Turkey. I've been using it for 3 years. Great resource to find the best anchoring spots, information about harbours and marinas, approaches, etc. Not always up to date and the odd mistake for waypoint coordinates, but I guess that's inevitable with a pilot covering such a vast area.

The 2006 revision of this indispensable pilot book includes numerous marinas and other facilities not even mentioned in the previous edition. In some cases it has more detail than updated charts. Worth every penny for cruising on this sometimes challenging but beautiful coast.

This book has too much detail for anyone who simply wants to maintain their own boat. Great if you are building from scratch or a professional boat repairer but having read through a few sections I returned it. If you want to know how to make modest enhancements to your boat, how to maintain it or what tasks need doing at the annual lift out this isn't the book for you.
