Unfortunately I didn't buy this book until I had owned a motorhome for a year and I still
have found it an excellent source of information.
This book is essential reading for anyone looking to join the increasing numbers of motorhomers. It contains the answers to most questions you have and gives excellent guidance on sensible considerations to be made when looking for your first motorhome.
I can't recommend this book highly enough. If you only buy one book to help you decide, make it this one.

Looking for the answer to my mid life crisis question, 'should I buy an RV?', I decided to look for guidance and purchased this book.

Reading the first few chapters, it was as if the author was writing about my own recent experiences. so I was hooked and read the whole book in one sitting. The author obviously has a wonderful witty sense of humour and his honest observations of his camping and people watching experiences made me laugh out load (to my families amusement).

This in short is a fantastic book and a must for anyone thinking of getting a motorhome. Needless to say, for me gave me the push and I went ahead and ordered my first 34ft American RV due to arrive June 2008.

I have just returned this book to Amazon as it is useless for people touring Europe in caravans/motorhomes. The listings are organised by region/department, but the sites are listed by their names. The maps at the end are too small and only feature a few towns. Similarly, the index of places is very limited and many large towns are not listed.

Surely what is needed is a full index of towns etc to enable travellers to find a site within a certain distance of their objective. Listing by site is useless as who knows the names of sites?

Compare this with a guide I got from the camping cheques organisation. A nice big map and the listings show distances from nearby towns.

I really liked this book. Her others were weak in parts but I thought this one was great. It was engaging, funny, very interesting and gave fascinating snippets of information about France that you wouldn't necessarily have known and it left you wanting more. A good read.
